Anser 5000 satillite reception with Dish Network

Planning on a 6 month trip and considering getting a Dish satellite system and purchasing a Anser 5000 portable dish and would like feedback from anyone who has one. Also will the Dish "VIP 211K HD" receiver work with this system. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Have you looked at the Winegard Pathway X2? We have the tailgater, but are considering upgrading to the Pathway. We have Dish Network already. With the Pathway you do not need a power source and it is totally automatic. Plus you can access either the Eastern or Western Arc satellites.

If you buy together you will get better deal. Here is just one example for $498

I waited for the Anser automatic to be release but it was taking to long so i bought the VuQube (power over coax not 12v need to be run to the dish). Returned two of them, one was sent from CW with no guts, the second was DOA. Ended up with the Wineguard Carryout. So far very happy. It's connected to two VIP 211k HD receivers. Only have two issues with it. One, is you can't watch two programs on two different satellites but that's true for all the small dishes. The second issue is the main receiver needs to be on or the satellite will start tracking or something. The second TV will lose signal unless the main is on or the unit is unplugged from 12v to lock in that one satellite. Not the most friendly for boon docking situations.

The VIP 211k is a decent receiver. The addition of a USB hard drive making it a DVR is a nice to have. I'd still rather have DirectTV but having HD on a small satellite was the buying factor.
