Floor Runners

I've read about some kind of a floor runner being used when you bring the slides in to save the carpeting. Does anybody have information on this? It could have also been on another froum.

Tom,
I think this might be what you are referring to.
Slide-Out-Sticker
You can do a search and find other places that might have this item for less. This site had a good photo of the item.

Thanks Joe, that's what I need. Don't want to ruin the carpet, keeps the wife happy.

I've used them for several years ... they work pretty good as to eliminating the black marks on the carpet at each end of the slides as well as a bit of fraying. To make them work the best, you need to pull the slide in just a couple of inches to get it to start up the ramp in the floor, then put the Slideout Slicker under the leading edge of the slide ... then retract all the way. If you don't follow the above advice, most of the time, the slide will just try to push the Slide Slicker across the carpet.

We bought vinyl flooring 5 inch from Lowes $2.49 each. We then pealed off the back and put no skid carpet padding on the sticky side and trimmed it to fit the flooring. We use it for our kitchen slide because it keeps it from scraping the vinyl. For the carpet you could peel off the back and attach the plastic with the little spikes carpet protector. It would help hold it in place as the slides come in. Good luck.
