Nice writeup dieselguy. That ain't no rant, that there be a writeup. I thought well of the product even though I don't have one and was curious, but you answered the last couple of questions.

The product and its parts are made of some very good material and if it catches the trailer during a mishap and it catches the rig instead of letting it loose, then replacing the rod is a lot better option than what could have happened! The 4" travel is also a good thing even when compared to the Blue Ox.

I think that this product would actually be better than the Bed Saver. I had a Bed Saver. Thought I was protected. I high hitched 6 years ago on my very first outing - I have a Pullrite Super 5th. The Bed Saver did not catch the Monty; it landed on the bed rails.

About 6 months later, after hitching up many, many times and knowing what I was supposed to look for, I left it in pieces at Mesa Verde RV Park with a sign on it saying it was in good condition and free. Someone took it.

Now, 6 years later, I do the pull test after visually checking to make sure I am hitched properly.

If I were to install something, I would probably go with Butch's idea because it "catches" much quicker and closer to the hitch.

Just my take on this...
