Anyone using an Autonet aircard/router

I'm currently using my Alltel/Verizon phone for internet but it is not as fast as I'd like and reception is not always the best. I checked my usage for the last couple of months and even though DW says I'm always on the internet I have never even came close to the 1 gig limit of the $29 plan.
Does anyone know if this unit has more power than the typical cell phone? For the extra $4 a month it would be worth it to not be tetherd to my cell and if it had the old 3 watt output I'd be really happy. Lots of good reviews on Amazon.[url]http:http://www.amazon.com/Autonet-Mobile.../dp/B002ACP27W

the autonet unit is a router, not a signal amplifier.
