Help!?

I just hooked up to a new wireless service in our park, the wireless web. I can't send any email, save any as drafts, don't know if I am getting any of my emails, and sometimes can't even get into my email program. (msn.com) Messenger works, Ican get into web sites. The online help for the service is never there. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure about msn.com but when I try to send email through my normal isp to which I am not connected at that time, I have to set the setting on the "servers" page for that account to tell it the server requires authentication. You may then have to put your userid and password for that isp in the boxes for that setting. Before doing that I could receive email from them but could not send. You might not be able to receive without authentication, either. Since making this change my email has worked fine on several different wireless systems.

Hope this helps.

I'll second what Steve posted. I know for a fact that Earthlink requires authentication configured if you are not accessing your email from an Earthlink connection. I assume many other providers are doing the same thing, mostly in an attempt to cut down on Spam.

I recommend checking your email provider's web site to see if they have special instructions for accessing email from off their network or remote email access. Something along those lines.

Your provider may also have a web mail option that you can use when traveling.

Thank you. As soon as I sent my plea for help in, my email magically started to work. This wireless network is really weak, so have to catch it when it is strong and hurry before it cuts out!
