50 amp male connector repair help

Need to know if anyone has fixed or replaced their 50 amp male power connector? I have the yellow female marine connector on one end and a black molded male connector on the other end. Today I plugged in and had power, had the surge protector on and it was reading the voltage just fine, but no power to the Montana. I went to remove the plug and found I could twist and pull the cable easily at the male connector. I pushed the cable back in and we had power in the coach.

I do not see how to get into the plug. Do I need to buy a 50 amp plug, and cut off the old one, then strip back the wires and wire up the new plug. Or is there a way to open or repair the current one?

Searched but did not find anything on this.

We leave here in the morning and do not know when we will have internet service next, but will check back as soon as we do.

I think I know what you mean -

The male end of the big 50A cord is a factory molded end and is not repairable, however it can be replaced with a user installed replacement type, like what is on the other end.

Sure you can get it from other places but tweetys.com has the plug end you are talking about. Good luck with the repair.

Lowe's Home Depot, Camping World, Electrical Supply - all carry them.

Those nice yellow ones, like Ozz shows, with the pull handle are the way to go. Much safer and eaiser to unplug.

Yep, they sure are nice. I believe that if you are doing a lot of traveling, or even sitting, that eventually those molded plugs have to be replaced. We've replace ours. My philosophy is that every time I move our rig and get ready to reconnect, I clean all the male plugs, tighten them (by spreading), and make sure the CG pedestal is operational.

Thanks for the help Ozz, Now if I can find one up here in Portage La Prairie, Manatoba or International Falls Minnesota before the one I have quits working. Next time I have internet I'll send an update.
