And the award goes to
Monty plugged in to house power. Piddling around doing little stuff in basement. Turned convince center light and forgot to turn it off. Removed shore power due to departure to Tampa to see some spring training games (Monty stayed behind). Gone 10 days and went to extend slides and had NO JUICE. Does this put me in the running for the MOC "Dumb sh--" of the month award?

Not even close! If this the worst thing you ever do with the Monty you are living a charmed life.

No Mike, but I would charge it and then do the specific gravity test on all the cells.
It can damage the plates, but that is a toss up.
If it were me, I would slap a new battery in it, keep this one for a spare.

You'll probably get away with that mistake and be the wiser for it, but if you were here in the Northeast you wouldn't. Did that once and killed the battery. When a battery is discharged it freezes and splits the case in freezing weather. Had to replace it and haven't done it since.

Mike, you are going to have to do a heck of a lot worse to claim that title. Thank goodness for extended service plans, my best one was killing the slide motor with a flip-flop under the slide, then there was the classic blowing multiple fuses on the landing gear because the rear stabilizers were down, then there was.........okay, that's all folks, don't want to hog all the embarassment!! I believe we could all contribute to one heck of a book!

I add; 2 battery's, after 24 hours both show fully charged. Both less than a year old. Only time will tell and I will do a gravity check. Thanks for info and humor.

It would have been dumb if you DIDN'T figure it out for yourself. In your case, it sounds like a senior moment (I don't care how old you are) and no one can help those times. I've been having senior moments since my early twenties. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
You were wise in correcting it, too. Nope, no dumb moment here. BTW - Hooker. The best checklist is one you remember where you put it. I still don't use one cuz I lost it.

Look the thing about RVing is that there is a lot you need to remember that doesn't have any relation to the years spent in a stick house. I had a particularly bad run coming up to the Rally last fall (I blame it on worry as Rally Master, Joyce has other ideas). Joyce was riding my behind about whether we were suited to this or not. Got to our first campground in Elkhart and our first two neighbors had torn their steps up by leaving them down and several other mistakes came to light soon after. Joyce decided I'm not any dumber than average and maybe my mistakes to date were a little cheaper once she reviewed the other contestants. In short, the thing to do is just move on and try to remember not to do it again.

I agree with Ozz.
At your age, I'm surprised we don't hear more of these stories from you...
Sorry Mike, couldn't resist.

At least it was at home. I turned on the interior lights in my truck at the airport a few years ago before getting out to catch my plane. Forgot to turn them off. 4 days later upon return there was nothing.
At least I learned and never did it again.

Mike, here is some info on the battery issue. I use a load tester to check my various batteries, I have included a link to that also.
To load test a deep cycle 6 volt battery, you must purchase a load tester specific to the battery. Commonly, the amp load testing number is half to that of the CCA rating of the battery. Please check out this link for more information on battery load testing and function: http://www.batterystuff.com/kb/artic...ry-basics.html.
