New 5th wheel

John and Terry here. New Montana 3971RL purchased Aug 1st. Unfortunately our trailer is a total disappointment. The dealer has had it more than we have. Major and I mean major water leaks. Now the dealer wants to send it back to the manufacturer for the massive repairs that must be done. Has any body else had such bad luck?

Sometimes things are not done right at the factory. That is why its your dealers fault for not going over their unit with a fine tooth comb before the sale.

It is also up to YOU to inspect your roof multiple times a year and make sure any suspect areas of concern and sealed up. Water and sun are your campers worst enemy.

It's brand new. It was inside till we purchased it. First trip out we had water across the floor from a window lol leaking. Replaced with new window, and it leaked. Now the slide out are leaking. And just FYI this not our first rodeo. It's our 5th trailer over 20 + years, so I do know how to take care of our unit. It poor quality from manufacturing plain and simple. But thanks for your input.

Sounds like it time for the manufacturer to buy it back, well one could only hope. Hopefully it gets better.

Dealer is working on getting it sent back to Keystone for major repairs. Whick creates more issues. Have to empty it out and will have to rent storage to keep things in and our indoor storage is paid for the winter. Lots of issues. Ppl

I believe I would be asking the dealer for a "buy back" and have them get you a different fiver. No one should be forced to keep that camper.

To your original question, yes it is unusual, but not unheard of. If it were me I'd get a lawyer. Yes it will cost money, but it will be money well spent.

we had an issue with a new trailer coming in wrong from the manufacturer; the trailer 'could' have bee reworked to be correct but it would have been significant effort done by the dealer

end result was that we declined the trailer and they ordered in fresh one

In your situation how open is the dealer / manufacturer open to getting you a different trailer? If you have a relationship with the dealer have them get you a different one and they can figure this one out on their own.

States don't, but the federal government does, and plenty of lawyers ready to jump.
Best of luck!

YES, this kind of thing does happen, but not often. You are making payments on both the trailer and insurance and whatever else you rolled in. You maybe can make them buy it back, but how long will it take to get a new unit? At least you wouldn’t have to be making payments. I would contact a good lawyer for an initial assessment of your situation. This is usually no charge. After that it will cost you. Your trailer will be out for months while waiting for repairs, and you will be making payments all this time with no use of your trailer. That’s not right. Don’t let them slow roll you and make excuses, because they will. Your dealer needs to step up here. Let us know how it is going.

Ask them to replace it. You paid or are paying for it and you are not getting what you paid for. Then they can send it to the dealer and all will be happy.
