Ford turbo hose

Found a great diesel repair business in the foxboro massachusetts area when the local ford dealership wouldn't even look at our truck or offer any help. The business that made sure we were totally fixed, putting us at the front of existing workload is Allegiance Trucks, 2181 Providence Hwy, zWalpole, mass, 800-225-4808. They looked at the truck, found the parts, and had it quickly fixed the following morning after we showed up at closing time the night before. They only do ford truck work beside all the medium duty truck work, but are a great resource. We lost the turbo hose with a mighty bam on the border of new york state and Massachusetts and slowly made it to normandy farms rv park as a normally aspirated diesel. Yeah, some hills 35-40 mph and a lot of diesel burned to tow across mass plke and down 495. Life!!!

Curious the reason they gave for not helping. My hose popped off last year. I drove it a couple blocks to a parking lot and killed the engine to verify what happened and it would not start again. Had it towed to my local Ford dealer. They had to order parts but had it repaired the second day.

Here's am aftermarket option for a fix:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's not cheap, but it's not plastic either. I put one of these on when I replaced the failed SST turbo (2011-2014 version) for a 2019 variant on my 2013 a couple months back. I did carry a spare Ford OE pipe in the bed of the truck before I bought this. I figured I'd replace it since I had the top end of the engine torn apart.

When my turbo failed, I drove it 10 miles home and know what you're talking about on the no-boost fueling!!! not to mention the high EGTs.

I"m using one of the H&S replacement CAC tubes as well and have had no further problems
Couple things - if you do go with one of these, be aware that there are two versions, one for a stock engine, the other for a deleted and chipped truck. Also, there is a little more engine noise under acceleration but not bad.
Pricewise - Amazon was not the least expensive when I bought mine. Wander the net first as there are some reputable alternate sellers

This is the one I got although not the polished one. It was easy to install. the stock one will fail again.https://rudysdiesel.com/i-30497972-r...werstroke.html
Here are the install instructions.

I replaced with metal upgrade, carry the old as a spare. Will likely never have to use. Ford has since replaced believe around 2018 with stronger CAC.

About 3 years ago I blew the same hose about 20 miles from Tuscaloosa, AL. Called GEICO Road Service for a wrecker and had it towed to Tuscaloosa Ford dealer. The whole event only took 3 hours and we were back on the road. Covered underFord extended warranty.

I’ve bought from Rudy’s Diesel that Slow Hand recommended. They are great people to deal with.

I guessing any of these non Ford CAC tube replacements are better then the OE that took Ford too many years to correct.

Yes, i do plan on going with an aftermarket cac as well when i get around to it. Thanks for the reccomendations. The ford dealer across the road from the patriots stadium told us 1. No appointments for sevral weeks, 2. No spare techs or mechanics available to look at the truck or take code readings, no input into where you can get help. This experience was 180 degrees from the folks at Allegiance Trucks. Just another set of experiences in the fulltiming life. Safe travels to all!

Is this the hose(pipe) that blows off with a loud bang?

There is most of the time a huge bang when it blows. If you can replace a radiator hose, you can replace the CAC. About the same except for a sensor harness on the CAC.

Oh yes, happened to us too

We were in the middle of Texas and just left a very small town when ours blew. The nearest chevy dealer was 50 miles away. I limped it back to campground doing 30 mph. I asked around town and no one was available. They said they could possibly get to it next month! My wife located a shade tree diesel mechanic outside of town on social media. He didn't answer his phone so I drove over to his house. He kindly found a hose that was "close" modified and installed it for a whole $125. I tipped him well and thanked him. Lifesaver.
