Awnings on 2007 Montana 3500 RL

We bought our Montana and there are awnings installed over every slide out. 3 out of 4 are ripped. Do We need to replace/repair these? We have subfloor damage from water, are these ripped awnings a cause of that? Or are the awnings simply to provide protection from the sun? Thanks everyone!

You can replace the slide topper fabric if it’s ripped. It does keep sun of the slide roof and rain. It does help but is not likely the cause of slide floor rot. Easiest and cheapest way to replace toppers is get a roll of cut to fit material.

The slide awnings help with sun and to keep debris off the top of slide. I would say you have water coming in from maybe windows or through some of caulking on seams of the slide. You can either replace awning fabric or take them off it’s your preference. I have them on so I don’t have to sweep slide off every time I bring them, also help keep slide a little cooler in hot sun.
