For $80k, you can get one of these: https://owner.ford.com/support/how-t...gate-step.html. Search revealed retrofit options.

The Cosco "grandma ladder" referenced above is the best. I bought one of the "fit over the tire" steps and have yet to use it. It lives in the bed of the truck where I can't reach it; kind of defeats the purpose.

This is the best way to inflate your tires. It is expensive, but worth it IMHO. I bought all kinds of stuff that did not work before I got this. The Milton 553 locks onto the valve stem and has a built in gauge. You did not say what truck you have, but if it has the 19.5" steel side wall tires, you don't want to be near them when inflating. Tire shops will put them in a cage for safety. The Milton 553 locks on and is 5' long so you can stand to the side.

Also, since dually is new to me please advise - how in the heck do you put air in the inboard (and outboard) tires? The valve stem looks to be turned inwards towards the frame. Whats that all about?
Thanks,
Max
I'd be sure whatever you are getting actually works. The thickness of the alloy wheels on our F-350 makes a straight on gauge/air chuck not align straight with the tire valve. Works fine on the rear inner dual as it's thinner steel wheel. Ended up with two different gauge and chuck types in my compressor bag.

Edit: Congrats on the new truck.

Great ideas. Thanks everyone! Funny thing - we stopped at a QT a few months ago for coffee. On the curb around back there was a dual headed professional quality air gauge. I picked it up and thought- prolly never need this - now look what happened ! Be careful of the things you keep, they tend to materialize to their own need!

Thanks that is good information. Still familiarizing myself valve stem location and approaches to making pressure adjustments. Appreciate it

Best option is to get the Anderson ultimate hitchand you don't have to enter the bed to lock hitch,it pulls better no chucking or bucking, can be unhitched on uneven ground.

In board tires next to use flex extension. Do not use a solid extension unless you have steel valve stems. I did not at one time solid on rubber valve stem split my rubber valve stems cost me 2 new inside tires. 😀😀

Dually tires

I bought valve stem extenders so I can air up with our fighting to find the inside valve stem. Probably Autozone.

I’m short too — 5’7” . So far, I just grab the top of the side of the bed, put one foot on the top of the tire, and pull myself up. However, since the top of the tailgate comes up to my chest, I did get one of those tailgate ladders for the back of the truck. But after looking at the posts here, I may get one of those over the wheel steps — I didn’t even know they made such a thing.

As for airing up the tires, I invested in stainless steel dually extended valve stems. The stems and installation was around $275, but it’s been worth it. Not an issue checking or filling up tires.

I have the 2 step stool also to fill my aux tank but have the gravity fill instead of a pump.

OP will need a longer gauge with a reverse head to check PSI. My 2019 F350 dually has built in TPMS.

I bought some replacement metal valve extension from a website called ShinyRv.com. they have valve extension that make it easier for both inner and outer wheel to check p.s.i. and to fill air.

On my dually, I make sure the metal valve stems are opposing one another (180°), so you don't have to hunt for it to fill with a dual headed air chuck (push and pull). I use an Andersen hitch, so no need to reach over bed rails.

All these ideas work, but why not just put on wheel to wheel side bars. It was one of the first items installed on my drw truck.
As far as inner wheels you can get valve stems that come through the outside wheel. Makes life easier when adjusting air pressure.👍

OK, I have to ask: Many here are talking about different types of valve extenders for the inner dual, does that mean you're not running a TPMS on your TV?? You're not putting a sensor on the end of those extensions are you?
I recently ordered and dual head chuck, but the one side is straight which helps hitting the inner valve.

I use a light 2 step aluminum ladder with the top step a wider platform. Use it to get into the bed and work with the hitch. It is easy and I also use it when washing the truck as well. When traveling with the RV I have it in the bed and when parked I store it ourside the RV. It is very light and also handy for other uses around the RV as well.
