Securing furniture
So, today I decided to arrange the furniture in the living room of our 3400RL back to the factory configuration which is, as I understand it, the two recliners in the rear and the couch in the slideout next to the dinette (the PO had the recliners in the slideout and the sofa in the rear). When I moved the sofa from the rear I saw four D-rings in the floor —two near the rear wall and two a couple feet from the wall. I’m guessing these are to secure the two recliners, but with what and how. To close the slideout I had to turn the recliners sideways.
I also saw that the dinette table had holes on the base where it has apparently been screwed into the floor at some point. I reckon I should figure how to secure these things before going for a long road trip! Screwing the table back into the floor won’t be hard. Were the chairs secured somehow originally?
Thanks again for all your help.

My model 3402 had the chairs in the rear and I moved them to the slideout as they were what we sat in to watch t.v. I secured the chairs by using 2 bungee straps hooked together and wrapped around the chairs when turned back to back. You can do the same thing with chairs in the rear. I now have theater seating in the slide-out and they stay in one place without moving them and not tying them down. The sofa fits in the rear just barely but safely enough for slides to move in or out. Originally the chairs in the rear were back to back and ran from the rear ring to the front ring using a strap across the lap of the chair that adjusted for tightness. You can use a bungee cord but be sure it is not to long because it needs to be snug . I draped a towel over the back of one of the chairs so as not to have the chairs rubbing against each other.

the two chairs in the back were held down by straps...i guess you don't have them. the straps had snaps and a clip on the end.
Just get some straps that you can attach to hold chairs.
table, just screw back into the floor.

Securing Furniture
Morning all, in our 2008 3400RL I removed the factory recliners and installed 2 Lazy Boy recliners. When we travel we just turn them for slide to close and go. I do not strap them down and in 10 years they just ride and when I get to where I am going they are still in basically the same spot unharmed, and no damage to the walls.

Thanks for the replies. I think I have a couple nylon tie down straps that I can use through those eyelets and cinch the recliners down.

Mine came with the straps to secure the recliners. Snap the buckles and then pull on the straps to tighten.
And I have to turn my recliners and shift them back a little before closing the slides. I put some round plastic water heater drain pans under both recliners to make moving them much easier.

Just curious. Not that I'm OCD or anything ... but, if you have a 3400RL with the dining room table still screwed into the floor... how far from the slider walls is it screwed down??

Having a 2008 3400 RL, measuring from the edge of the table with the tape just touching the window screen it is right at 4" . Measuring with both the kitchen ,and the living room slides out ,the measurement from the kitchen cabinet ,not the counter top, its close enough to call it 38". Table top on ours is 41". You could surely screw it down an inch less then the 4" giving it a little more clearance to the cabinet with the slide in . It would not hurt

Thanks.
So, curb side, it's 4" from the window screen of the slideout. How much from the window on the front end of the slide out?

Some tables can slide and turn on the base. Make sure your table is in the normal position before screwing it down or it won't rotate or slide where you want.
Also don't use screws that are so long they will pierce the bottom of the slide.

We started with a 2008 3400RL, then a 2012 3585SA, and now a 2018.5 3791RD. Been full timing for about 8.5 years and logged MANY miles. Have never had to strap down furniture and actually removed all the D rings.

I strap down my dining chairs but I am thinking about not doing that next trip and see how they ride. I have the I.S. and Hensley airbag hitch so I have as good of a ride as I can expect.

I hadn't heard of an airbag hitch until I read your post. I just Googled it and saw a video of one. Pretty neat! When I get $2.5k to spare, maybe I'll get one.

I think the air-bag hitch does as much for giving me a better ride as the Mor-Ryde I.S. I have the model TS-3 and they have a lesser capacity that is the BD-3 which is also good along with the largest one which is more than any of us need. I have had this hitch since I bought the rv and I have 3480# pin weight. Great hitch but is quite expensive.

I had the same recliner arrangement in my previous trailer. Had to turn the chairs sideways to close the pop out. We never secured the recliners and never had a problem with them moving around even on the roughest roads (like I-40 west of Flagstaff).
I did not like having to pull the chairs in or out - tended to scratch vinyl flooring. Tried everything from felt pads on the legs to those furniture moving sliders. Nothing really worked very well.

X 2 on using caution when screwing the table down. If you use too long of screws you will cause damage when you move the slide!!
