Driving, I don't think you would notice much difference. Parking, probably not much either, maybe a bit of a difference backing and turning especially the swing of the coach behind the wheels. Our biggest observation is the availability of campsites large enough to accommodate us, but again, I don't think there would be much issue there 36'-vs-40'.

Ours is 38 with a swivel wheel trailer behind. Not a problem if you can back. I've seen folks that can't back a jet ski trailer.

Usually the longer the trailer the easier it is to back up, now if you have room enough or not is a different matter. Those that have had pop-up campers know this to be true lol lol lol

The better question is which one would you be more comfortable living in. Ten minutes to back it in and a week living in it. Seems like a good trade off. If you practice a bit in an empty parking lot, backing becomes a whole lot easier.

It's the floor plan that should be the decision maker, after that it's just practice.

Floor plan for sure. You can stay in any floor plan for a weekend, but we are talking full or long timing. So floor plan it the key. I'm learning to back and getting better, but as Jim says it's only a few minutes out of week or month's stay.

I went from a 34 fter to a 39/1/2 fter when I went Fulltime and I could for sure tell the difference in backing/towing but I got used to it pretty quick, as far as Fulltiming I liked my 34 fter BUT It is real nice having the extra space with a 39 fter My wife for sure likes it MUCH better so I bought the biggest one I could afford and glad I did and now I cannot see going back to a smaller one as long as we are Fultiming

Sometimes. You will only have a problem generally in older parks, that were not planned to take the longer rigs. You can get the GS app for the phone that has all that info, or use the several books that list the RV parks. It just takes a little planning.

We went with the longest Montana we could get since we are long timers and would be spending a lot of time living in it. Agree the floor plan was the determining factor in the model we purchased, both of them. Our 13 3402 is 40 feet .That is what we have to shoehorn into a parking space. That is a tape measure measurement from the very front to the end of the bike rack. Also know what the total length of the truck and camper is as that is what you will have to make fit. Now all you need to do is find a C.G and a lot that you can fit into. we have been on the road for 7 years and have always found a place to park. Backing well that is just practice and after awhile will be second nature.
