Brand new knee!

We arrived at the hospital about 11 or so. Checked in and finished up the paperwork. Then to Pre-Op. Stayed there for an hour or just a little more. About 1:30 they wheeled her down the hall to the Operating Room. About 3:30 the doctor called and said all went well. Said her knee was completely worn out. Cleaned up the area and installed the new parts of the knee. Said she should really enjoy her new knee.

I finally got to see her about 5. Was there until about 6:30. Hospital doctor came by and said her vitals were all in good order and she could go home tomorrow. We will plan on getting her in a car and back home by about mid afternoon.

She still had the PT coming to get her up on that new knee. But she had just taken some pain meds and was falling asleep as she talked. I took my cue and kissed her goodnight and headed for the barn.

So if all goes well we should be on the road by the end of June.

We want to thank everyone for all the kind thoughts sent our way. We wish everyone facing any kind of adverse issue the very best! Thank you all for all your support. Dennis

Follow through with a good PT regimen and all will be well in no time. Glad to hear it was successful.

Great news Dennis, the first step to recovery. Any operation is dangerous, I am glad this one came out successful.

Congrats on a successful knee. I've had one done twice and can attest to the comment about PT and exercise. One great one, if available, is a recumbent exercise bike. Keeps things moving and helps rebuild the muscles

Positive outcomes are always good. I've heard of "break a leg", but I've never heard of "wear out a knee". We're rooting for continued recovery and getting on the road. I hope you two have a great month!

Thanks everyone! Your concern is appreciated. Mary Kay is home and doing well. She walked out of the hospital. I thought they made you ride in a wheelchair but here they "encouraged" her to walk. Home Health will get started in a day or two and PT soon after. Again thanks to everyone. Dennis and Mary Kay
