Being a fellow Missourian, I would love to come by, have a beer and watch you work, but I'm stuck down here in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for another 6 weeks. Maybe next time.

Hi Mac! Oh it wasn't too bad, I got sick of water seeping into the basement. I did all kinds of grade work, installed french drains outside, even a sump-pump in a pit outside. Foundation repairs would be the right thing to do, but 20 Grand... I don't think so. I hope you two get settled in before you have to go to work.
Alwims, I bet it is starting to get toasty there. It is always russian roulette trying to come home between the heavy stoms and high winds, be careful.

Ozz, I did the entire perimeter of the basement in our home in STL about 30 years ago with a jack hammer. Hauled out all the broken concrete and mud then installed rock, pipe and sump pit/pump and new concrete over. This was one of those pre-WWII homes with block walls. Ended up with a dry basement but what a job! BTW, put in a new HVAC system once the basement was dry

96 today and has been "hot" all winter. We've had over 100 degrees when our house back home had 8" of snow this winter. Getting kind of tired of it. We're coming home for a week visit next week and hoping we don't find any problems. We're even bringing the boat back home because all the lakes down here are drying up. Been watching it rain all day on my cameras back home and it's kind of a sick feeling when I look outside the Monty and see nothing but blowing dust. Good luck with your projects.

Ozz, did the same thiing you are doing about 15 yrs ago here in Raytown. Been dry ever since. In my 40's then, don't think I would attempt it now. I can come over but only as a supervisor and beer hander. :-)

This trip home for you is just another reason we're happy to be full timing. One rolling container of repair projects is more than enough.

Well I see others have had a better result than I did Ozz. I had the same thing done and after they got done my sump pump ran almost 24 hrs a day when it was wet outside. I also had to put a backup pump in the crock because I was afraid of leaving the house if the pump failed, which it did and cost me a furnace and hot water heater. I also had to put in an on board generator that would auto start when the power failed due to that mess. The only time it didn't was in the dead of summer, July and Aug. then again in the middle of winter. Worse thing I ever had done. I had the stone basement and I would have been way better off just putting a new basement under the house.

I'm so full-time and RV oriented that when I first read "basement" I was thinking of the basement in our Montanas. Wondered how the heck a French drain and sump pump were gonna work!

Now Dave, that would be my luck to have a natural spring under my home. What a mess. That must have been a nightmare for you.
TxYellowRose, I am still trying to figure out why you need 4 bicycles for the two of you! off-Road bikes and highway bikes?
