We have a 2004 3400rl, we live in UP MI. and will be heading to Zephyerhills Fl. for about 6-7 mos starting in Nov, 2004 as we usually do, we are planning on leaving our trlr on the lot year around, which we haven't done before. Does anybody or do everybody have any hints on what needs to be done to trlr before leaving it in a very hot summer situation (sun, humidity, snakes, insects, mold etc.)

Thanking everyone in advance

Ken And Karen

Ken and Karen,
I have the same coach and leave mine at the lake for almost 6 months. Usually take at least two good size trips a year with it, when time permits of course. There are a few things that will help you coach weather the elements that you can do in my opinion. First and most important is wax it. I know it is not a fun job, but will really pay for all the hard work in years to come when the colors are nice and dark and your decals are not coming off. I have two full coats of wax on mine including the slide room walls and am into it for about 15 total hours including the wash time. Second is if you dont already have them, install the max air covers over your vents. This will allow you to leave them open about one or two inches while your not there. Helps keep the inside of your coach cooler and allows air to flow through it. I also keep tire covers on all four wheels. Helps keep tires from cracking and drying out in the hot sun. Make sure to check your battery once a month and top off water when needed. As long as your plugged into power the battery has a small trickle charge going to it. Eventually it will boil the water out of the battery since now power is going out of it, only into it. Finally the only other thing I do is try to bring all the slides in at least once a month. This will help keep everything lubed and flowing free.

Hi Dave, That was great advise that you gave those folks Ken and his wife about leaving his rig down in Florida. I'm printing out that post for my notebook that I have on the Montana. Also glad to hear that you have the Maxair vents I have read about them on this forum. Someone installed one above his bathroom and leaves it on all the time and its so quiet they don't even know its on. So now thats one more thing for me to add to my list. By the time I buy my Montana I should have everything set up, I just hope I'm not pricing myself out of the market. I'll see Dave take care Tom n Phyllis

Tom n Phyllis,

Max air vent covers and Max Air fan are 2 different items.

The first, is a cover that goes over your regular vents on rig, allows you to leave the vent UP and OPEN, but no rain, etc can get in.

The second, is a fan, to take out heat or bring in cool air. We LOVE ours, it is not as noisy as our Fantastic Fans have been.

We did install a Fantastic fan in the bath area, one of the more inexpensive models, to help get the moisture out of the bath.

So, we have 1 Max Air fan and 1 Fantastic Fan and several Max Air vent covers.

Hope I did not confuse ya more

Cheers, and hey, WHEN are you ordering???

To add to the confusion, I swapped out that noisy bathroom (water closet room) fan for a computer muffin fan (best buy, circuit city, etc.) for a few bucks. Just be sure it's a 12v fan. Much quieter and moves considerably more air. We have the maxxair vent cover over that and all other vents on our Montana. Wish we had the fantastic fan or maxxair fan but we don't.
