breaking back window

I have the short bed Dodge with a slider and have never used the slider or had any problems, my 5th is set 1" ahead of center.
The trailer manufactuers and dealers should all use the cab to axle measurment like on big trucks, if they stated the distance you needed from the back of the cab to the axle and how far the 5th should be ahead of center no one would have the problem.
