Steve
When I lived in Upstate NY I used the light bulb for washer and for fuel oil tank spigot (fuel oil congeals at 20 below) which was outside. On the first of every month, I put a new bulb in and then used the old bulb inside for something. That way I could sleep at night.

Good idea, Sue. But I've never lived where I'd have to worry about fuel oil congealing! 20 below is way below my threshhold!

I have winterized my trailers both ways with and without antifreeze in the water lines and have not had any problems. What I recommend, if you choose not to use the antifreeze, is to blow out the lines several times (waiting at least 1/2 hour between times so water will recollect in low spots) to ensure all water is removed. You must use antifreeze in your traps and holding tanks as it's impossible to completely drain them.

If you have the winterizing bypass option on your unit, I would recommend using the antifreeze method for wintering the water lines....it's very easy to do and just seems safer.
