05 F-350 First trip

First time out in the new 6.8L 350 this year. We are still towing the 32 Foot Terry TT for now. Did about 350 miles all but @ 70 was interstate and Turnpike. The TBC worked perfect, no error msg's.Based on the settings we saw here we set the TBC at 4.5 towing @ 7000lbs, very smooth braking. The tow/haul mode is awesome, never had to hit the brake on a long downgrade. The 6.8L pulled 7000lbs 65/70MPh with no effort. In tow/haul Helen remarked that the truck NEVER down shifted on grades the the Trusty Silverado had to be pulled down into 3rd gear or it see sawed back and forth. We will be pulling @ 5000lbs more with the 3295 but we won't have any problem I am sure. I drove down to the campground and Helen drove back. She was very impressed. Helen has a heavy foot so Cruse control was mandatory. She said she could never get the Silverado to go that fast.I must have been taking a nap???Don't like to talk Gas milage. The truck had 1035 Miles on it when we left and we averaged 10.3 on the trip, With 11.4's on the interstate..About what we figured and about the same as the Silverado.Maybe it will get better with some miles..but again If I was worried about MPG I would be driving a S-10 or Ranger pulling a pop-up.

Sounds good, Rich. I assume that mileage was towing? If so, expect it to go down with the 3295RK. We averaged 8.2 mpg towing our 3295RK with the V10. Maybe your newer one will do better. In any case, we found the V10 to be a very capable towing engine.

Yes that MPG was towing and we do expect it to go down towing the 3295. I am told by folks that have towed a TT then a Fifth wheel with the same truck that the MPG is worse towing a TT. What they are saying is that if you were to tow a 10000lb TT then a 10000lb fifth wheel you would get better MPG towing the fifth wheel..There has got to be some physics involved that can prove that but when I retired I quite doing that kind of thinking...
