apollo oven

Our apollo bit the dust. When I pulled out it has a external fan mounted on the top. Is this because of the 1/2 time and will I find this on a new convection/microwave? Can I replace with a standard unit with a trim kit?

Go to this thread:

it is a still current thread about the Apollos

Many convection ovens will not have that fan or one even available. If you get a replacement Apollo make sure what comes with it. I don't know since when I need a replacement none, Apollos, were available. Those heat elements throw a lot of heat into the cavity which must be evacuated.

I replaced my Apollo last winter with a Sharp and I had to rig a cavity evacuation fan. Hot. It works and well. We'll see how it stands up. With some jiggery pokery I was able to reuse the old Apollo trim ring.

I just replaced our Apollo with a new one from Midwest Supply. At one time they had refurbished ones available but no longer. The new unit was pricey but since it was the exact size of the old unit it slid right into the existing cabinet with no mods. The new unit has a redesigned door with a regular style handle, no push buttons handles to break. The new one does have the fan in the same configuration as the old unit.

Phil

ps: I picked up the unit in South Bend, shipping might be another consideration if your not close to Indiana

I also got a new one from Midwest Supply last year. Exactly like the old one except for the redesigned door Phil mentioned. Much better than the old pushbutton one.
Don't remember what shipping cost. Don't remember it being unreasonable though.
