Marathon tire explodes

Well, I had my first blowout with my Goodyear Marathons. It was on a tire with about 15,000 miles. I heard a whoompf and then my tire monitoring system started to beep. Pulled over and the tire had started to separate and blew out the inside edge of tire. No damage at all and little damage to tire, although ruined. Decided then and there it was time for new tires and drove back to San Antonio to a Discount tire store and bought 5 new Michelin tires just like the truck tread except they were 235 instead of 265. Feel much better about continuing our trip through the south with safe tires. Spending the night in Baton Rouge La with thunderstorms and lightning, but hope to head to New Orleans tomorrow.

Glad it didn't do any damage. You'll find pulling down the road more restful with your new found peace of mind.

If you got 15,000 miles out of the Marabombs consider yourself very fortunate. Glad you didn't get hurt.

I'm glad you made it through safely. That is why I replaced my Marathons before I took the first trip.

you mis-spoke. You had your LAST blowout with your Goodyear Marathons. You made the right move. Glad there was no damage.

When I am driving today's roads pulling the fiver the last thing I need is tire drama. Great decision and glad no did not suffer any damage.
