domestic fridge not freezing

before my trip I used the gas to prime the fridge so it would be cold before I loaded the goods.. The ice cream took two days to freeze. Is that normal? I also loaded the freezer so air could circulate...any other ideas?

Dui,
for ice cream, yea probably. It's always the first thing to melt and last to freeze.
We have a small computer fan in the fridge part and one of the battery operated ones in the freezer, seems to really help with freezing ice cubes. Don't know about ice cream, my cardiologist has me on a diet that if it tastes good, I have to spit it out.

Dui,
I have a 2011 3580 Big Sky. My fridge is the 4 door 12ft size. I turn it on with gas 24 hours before putting anything in it. The 2 freezer compartments have bottoms about 6" below the door level. In 24 hr the icecream is as hard as a rock and the setting on the fridge is #6. The coils in the fridge part will have a little frost on them.

Wow...thanks for your replies. I have it set at 9 and it took two days to freeze. Do you think there is something wrong...I also had freezies in there (not frozen)... Your setting at 6 is what I would expect. They are now frozen but took two days.

Tom is right on, depending on what the ice cream makers actually put in the stuff, it takes around 0 to freeze hard, water is happy at 32-31 freezing hard. Two days is showing you that it could be colder, but if it got hard, you have no problems with it.
We were grocery shopping the other day, walked by an assortment of ice cream bars, sammies, and fudge bars in a box, looked at each other two isles over as we were still thinking about it and turned around and bought them. Ice cream is good stuff......

When we are loading for a trip, we always put frozen stuff in frozen hard. After frig has had time to cool well there is no further problem. Since I have built my own campsite in our yard, I only turn off frig. to defrost.
