hitch recommendations

Which hitch did you go with for your F450. Our previous hitch can`t be used in this truck.

I don't have a 450, but I highly recommend the Trailersaver Air hitch by Hensley. Spendy but I believe it will help protect your investments (truck & trailer). Others will be along with their recommendations also. Cost does seem to be a big factor with most......

Ditto the TrailerSaver hitch. Saves a lot of wear and tear on the structural makeup of the rig. With the pounding these rigs take on the highway, twisting and bouncing, the screws into the aluminum structure will have a tendency to pull out. Every little thing you can do to minimize this is to your advantage. When we had the front end of our rig reinforced, we were told that having the TrailerSaver hitch was in essence, a life saver for the rig. It allows the king pin to float rather than pound up and down with every little crack and pot hole. Be prepared to spend some money, but it's worth every penny!

Ditto on

AIR HITCH OR PIN, AIR SOMETHING.

If we had known then, what we know now, believe we would have sprung for the Air hitch. Mucho cheaper than fixing frame situations.

Ols1932 states it well!!!!

If you need to haul in the back. Then you may want to consider the B&W turnover Ball with the Companion Hitch. You can check it out on the net.

I also recomend the Trailer Saver Air ride hitch. We had one and was used in 3 different Trucks they were GM 3500HD 2 each and a Chevy Kodiak 4500. Just a superb hitch, the best Air hitch on the market. Lots of full timer's use the Trailer Saver. If we were full timing I would have a Trailer Saver. However we no longer are full timing so I now have a B&W turnover ball with the Companion 5th wheel hitch and I highly recomend the B&W system. For the difference in price, well the decision is yours. If you like a totally clean bed when not using the 5th wheel hitch the B&W is a great option. Good Luck with your choice's. GBY....

We absolutely love our Trailer Saver! Roads are rough everywhere so anything that absorbs some of the blows is a good thing. As Delaine and Lindy pointed out you can move the Trailer saver from truck to truck and use it on any 5th wheel you buy in the future. That can't always be said for the air king pins.

One thing to consider is how often do you use your rig. I think that everyone who has recommended the Trailer Saver on this thread is a fulltimer. We use our hitches on daily or weekly bases. Our cost per usage is very small.

I have the Trailer-Saver and what is said above I have to agree. Also you might want to consider installing Equa-Flex to the suspension as this a big help. A lot have also gone to Mor-Ride.

The Big Sky came with the Mor-Ride. I`m sure the air hitches would be a big bonus. Thanks for all the helpful replys.

I put a Draw tite Signature Series in my F450. The new suspension on the 2008 F450 really smooths out the ride compared my 99 F350. The Signature hitch has no rails and only leaves 4 small holes in the bed.
