Heading for Wichita Falls, TX tomorrow, hope it is just as good if not better as we head to Del Rio, TX. for winter.

Diesel at Flying J in Thousand Palms, CA was 3.579 today. That's a 30% decrease from what it was three (3) months ago.

Just payed $3.69 in K.C. Missouri. That is the lowest it has been in some time. Sure hasn't come down like gasoline has. Regular unleaded in K.C. $2.62.

Syplace, the Flying J website shows diesel at Emporia, KS (on the turnpike) is now 3.279. At Wichita Falls it is 3.539. In KC, MO it is 3.419. Here in Northwood/Concord, NH, I filled up today at the best price I've seen in quite awhile, 3.759. I'm looking forward to the better prices when we get to the KC area in a couple of weeks or so. It's strange when Kansas prices are cheaper than Missouri. Kansas has higher fuel taxes by a nickel or so than does Missouri.

I filled up at the Flying J in Oklahoma City for $3.42 a gallon yesterday morning. On my way back from the farm to the city last night I noticed a store west of Guthrie had it for $3.16 a gallon. The price in the farm communities seems to be going down faster than in the city. Kind of strange.

Syplace- We camped in a state/regional park in Witchta Falls Tx. back in 1999,was maybe $8.00 per night. The campground had a working oil derrick run by a one cyl engine.Very interesting!!

Don't even want to mention fuel prices back then...Have a good trip.

Something wrong with this picture. We are almost on top of the refineries and we paid $3.49 for diesel today. That price was the lowest anywhere. Most are still at $3.69 to $3.99 a gallon. Cheapest gas was $2.72. Geez, we are sitting on top of the product here in the Texas City area and other places have cheaper prices. They don't have to truck the stuff very far!!!!

Anyone know why we are paying higher prices here than in other places? Since we are going through a tank about every two to three days it adds up.

Welcome to my world Colleen. I have been wondering about that for a long time. Refineries are 1 mile away from the house and fuel is more expensive then up the road. Ah! They don't truck it from the refineries, they truck it from the pipeline distribution point. That must be miles, and miles away - don't cha think!

Wayne,

Austin has always had higher prices even though we aren't that far from Houston/Texas City. We paid higher prices for our diesel/gas in Dripping Springs/Austin than we did in Kansas. The highest prices we paid were in Illinois. Not sure how much the state taxes play in the price. Sure would be nice to see a website that tells you how much you are paying tax wise per gallon. Heck, I live in Texas, and I am not sure how much is added on per gallon.

I am just glad prices are coming down. The question is why were they allowed to get to where they were. Just seems to me that there was some price manipulation going on.

In Bakersfield, CA the diesel price is running right at $3.75. Not nearly as low as it should be and certainly not as low as most of you seem to be reporting. Sure hope it come on down.

We live on the northern border of Wisconsin ( the north cheddar curtain) and gas just hit 2.89, here in Land O Lakes diesel is still 3.89. What up with that? Diesel has always been below regular. Four years ago it jumped from the bottom through the mid grades to top dog in price. Our first year on the road it moved back down through the gas prices to less than regular,(WINTER 06) then as we headed back north so did the price till we got back to northern Wis. and it was up where it was when we left and hasn't been below gas since... With the low sulfur diesel, the processing removes the sulfur and then a lubricant is added back in that requires another step in processing. At least that is what I have been told. I do not know what to believe any more.

Oil will go back up, two reasons one the winter is comming and they will start making fuel Oil, and now the Stock Market is going up because the Tax payers are bailing our bad decisions by others. Oil was $81.00 this morning I think it will close up at the end of the day? Diesel in Tn I-40 $3.57 and up, I went by Wally World in Lexington Tn. yesterday and paid $3.53. . GBY....

Do Google search on:

where does the money go in a gallon of fuel

or

state fuel taxes

or

Gas State Tax

Or

I'm glad I'm not buying beer in Alabama

We just made a trip from Kansas to College Station TX and return -- highest prices we saw for diesel -- TEXAS!! Cheapest - Oklahoma (Flying J in North OK City on I-35). Asked local banker who was attending the game and he said because all the oil is being trucked back in right now from other points -- refineries just now getting back up and running and local stocks being rebuilt. So, he expects prices to drop substantially down in that area within the next week or so. Guess time will tell.

Now, that said, anyone else hear on CNN that OPEC is now talking about decreasing production trying to bolster the dropping price of crude ... We can't win in this game!
