The bad weather that has been passing through the south reached us in Alabama last night. We had watched the radar, and decided that the severe storm cells were going to pass north or south of us and that by midnight it all should be over. Well, about 11:50 p.m. there was one almighty crack of thunder, and then the storm was over and all was quiet for the rest of the night. In the morning we went to see what the lightning had hit. This pine tree is two sites away from ours. The occupants of the Teton Homes on the site left for the night for fear the tree might fall. Here is a link to the pictures.

Incidently, as you can see in the pictures, this is(was) one of the few large pine trees that survived hurricane Ivan.
The storm is now chewing its way through Florida, so all you people in FL, watch out!
