The above posts show that the Ford V10 is now the only available gas engine powerful enough to tow a Montana. In 05 the F350 V10 had the same GCWR as the diesel, 23000 pounds.
The V10 is still available in 08 models in most States and in Canada, not sure on the specs but I believe they are just as high if not higher.
What a pity that GMC does not offer the 8.1 in a pickup. I sure hope it is still available in Motorhome Chassis.

Don,

Thanks for the great information regarding the Ford V-10. My Dodge '95 V-10 is still doing the job but its getting old and tired!

I have to agree that the hemi is not designed for heavy towing. It's a quick engine but not designed for heavy towing. We towed our 2003 3295RK at 14,360 lbs up and over Vail Pass and through the Eisenhower Tunnel at over 11,000 feet on I-70 in Colorado with our 1999 Ford F350 V10. We were down to 32 mph at the apex and were being passed by the diesels but it got us up and over and did so without excessive temperatures. The cooling fan was running constantly the last few miles but the gauge remained in the upper half of the normal range, never getting into the hot range.

The problem with the gassers and Colorado is losing all that power as they climb.
