Good Sam Extended Warranty

I purchased my 2018 305RL in late 2017. I declined to purchase the dealership's $3,800 extended warranty at the time because I believe that you never get your money's worth. During the first year of ownership we had minor things that needed repair, but we also found that our air conditioner needed replacement, which was done under warranty. I then decided to go with the Good Sam Extended Service plan at $36/monthly, which I could cancel at any time. We have used our trailer a lot and had no problems until last summer when our microwave stopped working. I took it to the dealership and found that it would be in excess of $500 to replace. They could not find the cause. They refuse to work with Good Sam ESP, stating that they are impossible to work with. Good Sam referred me to another repair place in my area who refused to work with them for the same reason. I called Good Sam and cancelled the extended service plan. They informed me that they were going to charge me $40 for cancellation. I told them that I was not going to pay them for that.

Just wondering if my experience with Good Sam ESP is the exception or the norm. Thanks.

Several folks we've met over the years have had Good Sam and had similar experiences. Supposedly it works better at a Camping World, but that would open another can of worms for me.

We went with "Self Insured" and that money is still in the Bank.
Several years ago our Water Heater sprung a leak, Suburban supplied a replacement under their warranty which I installed, this past Fall blew the spur gear on our Living Room slide, got the slide in and continued our trip South. Once set for the Winter, ordered replacement assemblies from Lippert, not super expensive and replaced both gear packs on that slide. So total out of pocket for 6 plus years and 50K miles is less than $1000 and hasn't seen a Dealer or Service Center.

I purchased a GS warranty 6 months after I bout our 5th in April of 17, in December of 18 our NorCal frig gave out on our way to So California. Once we arrived at our destination I called a mobile rv repair guy and they accepted GS, I had also called GS in advance. I had a 500 deductible, they installed a new Amish coil and the over all bill came to 3500 bucks. GS paid the bill with no issues. Our rig is coming up on 5yrs old and I have since canceled the warranty as I believe we are well past any major issues.
