I couldn't pull up the specs with your model number. Regardless, I think you're in one ton territory with any Montana. Long bed is good so you don't have to get a sliding hitch, and a dually is better all around. A 450 might be overkill.

Your payload like mine will be about 4,000 pounds loaded. That will put you at or over the engineering limits of any single rear wheel truck. Can they do it? Yes. I see people doing it all the time. But everything from the tires up are at Max load or more. Buy a Dually.

I have a Ram which is not on your list but I bought the upgrade transmission and the 5th wheel prep package with a 3.73 rear which is the minimum for this purpose but is rated at 25,000 pounds towing. A 4.10 would push you up to 35,000 pounds.

Buy a good hitch and congratulations! Hope you love yours as much as we love ours.

2500 or 3500. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Whichever brand you choose, make sure it is a 1 ton dually diesel. You will not be disappointed with the reserve capacity!
We pull a 3120RL which is similar to yours with a Chevy 3500 dually diesel. Can hardly tell we are pulling a trailer.

Dodge, Ford, Chevy or GM, it's all about what you like and feel comfortable with. The size is a different story, I look at it like insurance. Yes I could have kept my 2500 SB but I would always worry about weight (can I add this, can I take that). I opted for a long bed DRW to remove the worry factor, safety is my main concern. I focus mainly on tires and suspension as they seem to be the most frequent cause of expensive damage and accidents. TPMS and frequent lube of hubs and suspension on both truck and trailer, for me is a must.
Haven't found a drive through I cant get it through, but it wont fit in the garage.

Ram 3500. Love ours. I've owned 5 of them and wouldn't have traded them for anything but another one.

First welcome to MOC and congrats on the new 5er.

If you mean the 3231CK, that has a huge carrying capacity and the gross weight will give you a pin weight of around 3670#, definitely 1 ton territory. Add in wife hitch and minimal gear and you're in dullyville.
I have a SRW and approaching those numbers and wish I had gotten a dully but I didn't want the long box. If that's an issue with you, you still have the option of a Ram which I believe offers a SB dully or the F450 which does give you a tighter turning radius. Even if the 450 is less payload than the 350 it is still plenty for what you have.

BTW, that is a very nice floorplan. Enjoy.
