Front cap hitch mirror turning dark?

Just fyi ...... My hitch mirror on the front cap was in very sad shape also and I finally removed it yesterday. It was a little time consuming, but was a fairly easy job. I used a hair dryer to heat it and peeled back on it pretty hard. I thought the constant tugging and bending would make the mirror snap into pieces, but it is made of some type of flexible vinyl that did not break. I had to use a lot of Goo Gone and "elbow grease" to get all the double sided tape off.
It now looks much better without it!
