All of them run quiet. They all send vibrations down the pipes that magnify like feed back from a microphone. It's even worse when the water lines touch things like the inside of walls and floors. That is the noise you are hearing. All of them actually whisper quiet.
One thing to consider also, your spigots and shower head have restrictors built into them (think water saver heads) that will still prevent good pressure at the end and also the faucets themselves have restrictors. Take apart your kitchen sink and look at the size of the hole the water actually passes through. I think the diameter of pencil led is more than the hole the water passes through on your kitchen faucet.
Try removing the shower head and turn on the water. I but it pumps out pretty good.
