Terry & I made to Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground. So far so good no problems. We went to Mackinac Island today and had a great time bicycling around the island. So beautiful like being on a tropical island. Also took the carriage ride around the island. We also had a great time at the rally in Ionia, Michigan. Thank you for all those we met and the warm fuzzies. Looking forward to Goshen rally.

Been to Mackinaw once and really enjoyed it. We were also at that same campground but had an Airstream at that time. We had a very difficult time with the parking where we were placed. Do they have good accommodations for 5er’s?

We were there in 2010.

I don't know about you, but I thought the aroma of horse manure was powerful. Just think of what cities all over the world smelled like before the turn of the 20th century. P.U.

We are on the other side of the Big Mac. Our first time staying on the north side. It will NOT be our last and we may NEVER stay in Mackinaw City again! St. Ignace is the bomb! Who knew? Not us, but, we do now and it is wonderful!

Tomorrow we will pay a lazy visit to the island, relaxed, slow and well, just slow! LOL

We plan to head there in a few weeks - have heard wonderful things about northern Michigan and the UP.

Question - we do plan to "do" the UP - should we also stop in Traverse City?

We just returned from a twelve day trip in the U.P. We're ready to pack up and move north. I told the wife what Tom said, I'll bring her back in six months to decide.

About 4 years ago, Gail and I stayed in that campground. They set us up at the end of a row across the street from the Straights. We could look out our living room window and see the island and the Mackinaw Bridge. Was really beautiful! We also, went across the bridge into the UP and visited Tahquamenon Falls. Both the upper and lower.

Tom S, from this point, it won't take 6 months to loose it's "tropical" feeling! I'd give it about 6 weeks.

Carol Honey, are you going to give us the name of the campground you are staying in? BTW, how is that husband of yours doing? Any more landing leg issues?

subra1228, not sure about Traverse City but, just a short distance to the northwest is Lake Leelanau. It is all beautiful country up in there. And, not real hard to get to Mackinaw City from there because, Gail and I did it back at the end of June. Also, if you want to see great views of the northern end of Lake Michigan, make a left hand turn onto US 2 and go about 25 miles west after you cross the bridge.

Mmm, no more landing leg issues, knock on wood. Not sure I should share this gem's name cause ya all will flock here and we won't be able to get a site next time. Sigh. Okkkk. Tiki.

6 weeks may be too long. I saw red and orange maple tree leaves throughout the UP. Turning already. Not many. But turning.

Traverse City is nice. The Havens are GREAT. Sagatuck. FAB!

We usually stay at Wilderness State Park, just west of Mackinaw. A beautiful park, right on the shore of Lake Michigan.

Carol, we tried to get into Tiki two years ago. The sites they said we would fit into, I couldn't get into. Believe me I tried-hard.
x2 on Wilderness. Straigts State Park in the lower section is very nice too. Very nice lookout area to see the bridge at night too. A little secret: go to the cemetery at night to see an unbelievable beautiful and unobstructed view of the bridge. Cool visit in the light too. Many very old gravesites dating to the early 1800's.
Tery and Claudia, take a drive to Oswald's bear ranch to see the bears. Have your picture taken with a cub bear. Oh yeah, have a pastie for me. Mmmmmmm.

Kevin, that 3402 is a bit longer than we are.

We are up on the hill in 30 AMP, water and no sewer back in sites. There is NO one around us, really. We actually have Jolly parked in the site next to us which has no power. We fit right in, course, as I said, we are shorter by some than you are.

One place we cannot recommend here is the KOA. Bad experience there a few years back. N

Love it! Tiki is where we stay and have been there twice. Once with our 3400 and once with our 3700 and we fit just fine both times. We ate at a restaurant up on the hill twice and it was a good breakfast place.

They actually have several excellent places for 5er's. The best are the premium bridge/water views. The lot is deep, shady, good grass in back, and movable fire pit.

I agree, but I also took long (got lost) bike ride on the interior part and it is a gem many people miss. I stumbled upon the golf club, a hugh rock climbers bolder, several excellent biking trails, found the location carriages are taken when not in service and an Amish guy getting the carriage ready gave me the directions back to the crowd. You don't have many areas on the interior with water views, but you get a feeling of biking through a tunnel of beautiful trees. Lots of bird sounds etc. Also, the ARCH is a must see.

Really, it is ONE sweet campground. There are a number of very long sites, ours was more than enough for any Montana, 3295 to 3402 and beyond.

I am sure that BethandKevin had one of those bad weekends/days, or a host that knew a hill of beans about lengths.

There were lots of MH's, Alpines, Montanas, Redwoods, one of each as they say.

There were no full hookups, so, we just took a 30 AMP site with water. It was LOVELY! No one parked on either side of us the entire time we were there, like we had the entire hill all to ourselves!
