DW and I have an '06 329RLS and just love it. Last year we lost the spare tire (mounting cable broke) while coming back home from Montana.
All the damage was covered under warranty and they even gave us a new wheel and tire assembly.
This year on the way to Virginia we had Mission tire problems. We plan on replacing the junk tires before our next trip. Otherwise we are very satisfied with our unit.

Oh, and Ellie the dog (golden retriever).

I attached the spare tire with a ratcheting strap, I recommend it to everyone, good insurance, as that cable and gear assembly is very lightweight-dare I say CHEAP?
Glad you like the unit. Ozz

Ozz,
Did you just attach the strap to the crossmembers?
Congratulations on your rig Jim and Carla! I had to crawl under and tighten that cable on our trip home from the Dealer after signing papers. I got out to take a picture and noticed it hanging down. I probably could have very easily lost it, as it is not a great holder. It's almost as if the mechanism is not really designed for a full 4-1/2" hole and it is barely hanging on.

On our third flat, the cranking mechanism came apart, just broke on half. That is the plastic reel the cable winds on. I was able to find a dealer that had one, but I forgot where we were. "Cheap" is a good word for it, but cheaply made not low in replacement cost.

I'll snap a picture. I had a flat, and after a year the strap came off without a problem. (And back on) But the spare was low on air, and I would recommend all of you checking that pressure.

I carry my spare in the bed of the truck.
