Winter is over.....
now the spring storms. Hail near baseball size, broken skylights, broken windows, and probably roof. Too dark to tell how bad the roof is til morning.
Could be worse. Reported significant tornado damage just a few miles away.
Oh well. Summer is not too far away.
Edit: should have noted this is in the stick house, not the Monty.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Being Kansan's we've been there and done that. Definitely no fun.

Sorry to hear you got hammered..I forgot I seen you were from up that way. Some of the pics they showed on line of the hail it was huge. My sister over in Bedford said it was nasty all around them with pitch black skies but I think she is ok...my other sister was very close to the other tornado out in Farmersville and Greenville area and she is ok too. It was just very eerie down here in cental Tx...had tornado watch and we decided not to go to a Jason Boland concert tonite and just stay close to home....wife is from Pa. and she still gets pretty antsy when they start putting warnings and watches on TV, Hope your Montana was under cover. Hope your insurance company is better then my brothers...after the storm we had last week he called St Farm and they tried to talk him out of claiming?????? Went as far as telling him his rates would go up and OMG he has to pay a deductible etc etc....went over the local offices head and the main ofc tried to do the same thing. He's like yeah I got to pay a deductible but a new roof for his house is about 10k. He told them that's why I pay you every year lol lol...... Hope it's not as bad as it looks when it gets light out.....

Just a question while on the topic of bad storms. We've been in some pretty heavy rain storms with hail, maybe a bit over 1/2 inch, and had some very windy conditions, but how well do these things hold up to larger hail? I would expect the roof would have a little give and would be better than asphalt shingles on a stick house, but with the vent covers and the skylight, how do they do? We do intend to carefully watch for bad weather as we cross the country, but we can only go so fast, so it's hard to outrun the storms

You might want to tell the folks in upper Minnesota that are getting 12" of snow today that winter is over. They'll be happy to hear it.

As much as I was tired of winter, I guess a few more inches of snow would have been better.
I was fortunate in two ways. First we only had tennis/baseball size hail. Areas nearby had softball size hail!
Second we live 4 miles outside of town, but both of our vehicles were in town at the time where we only had marble size hail so no damage to our vehicles.
Oh, and a third was tornado(s) were in the general area but it appears there were "only" a few rural houses damaged and only minor injuries.
And a fourth. The Monty is in covered storage. Don't think it would have fared too well in that kind of storm.

Just like a stick house it's going to depend on size of hail, how hard it is, wind direction and speed etc. We've been in 60mph winds and hail with no damage where the truck got some small dents you can only see when the sun is right so it can take some, but not a lot. I carry a couple of plastic tarps in my trucks tool box to cover skylights etc. More than that and it's probably totaled.

I keep a stack of movers blankets just in case I get the chance to throw them on the hood or sky lights. Figured they are cheap and once the rain hits them and wets them they are heavy and wont blow off. And are farily thick and quilted so should protect them some but probably not from softball size hail....

Spring has sprung,
the grass has riz,
I wonder where the flowers is.
...oh yeah, there they are! Crushed into oblivion by softball sized hail.
