I'm a 6 yr user of TST 507. It saved me on I-40 in Peoria. I would not leave home without it. Its that important.

For a large trailer, get the repeater. I would probably like a color display, but not worth color extra cost. My gray monitor background works fine.

My system saved me when I caught a screw in the tire coming north last year. Was able to get off the highway and in a safe place to change it.

I have the color monitor, which I like, but would be fine with the B&W if readability is good.

The sensors will connect without, but I use the repeater, which I wired in with a switch.

I use the monitor at the start of a drive to decide if I need to air up the tires. I find it is very accurate.

Been monitoring site for a number of years and thinking it is time to purchase a TST system. My question is do I need to upgrade to metal valve stems on the tires?

No. Just get the standard sensors and not the flow through type. If you have to add air to your tire, it literally only takes 30 seconds to remove the sensor, add air and put it back on.

I hope it's okay to ask this here since it is related, but what are people using for high/low pressure settings for 110 psi Sailun tires? I just installed the TST507 in Feb after 20 years of towing without one and never having a tire issue. I spent more time on this trip listening to alarms and looking at that screen than I wanted!!

I set the psi alarms at 120 and 100 to start. I filled to 110 psi in my warm shop and left MN for FL the next day at -15F. No issues until the next morning at -5 where all the sensors were showing around 90 psi. They warmed up to about 110psi after driving a while. Once we got to FL I would see 125 psi after driving some distance. Tire temps seemed to run 15-20 higher than outside temps.

I never imagined there would be such a swing in pressure with temperature.

My low is set to 95, and I think the high is 125 or 135. All I can remember is the low is 95 and that is when mine went off a week ago.

I called TST and adjusted the alarm to their recommendation and also consulted the Sailiun inflation guide. I believe mine is around 90 and 125. I inflate my tires around 100 psi, 110 is very harsh.

My tires often increase pressure while driving 15 - 19 pounds from the cold pressure, particularly in FL.

Also 95 and 135. I believe there is a recommendation provided. TechnoRV has some informational videos to help as well. I am sure there are many others on YouTube.

I have the flow through sensors. They require a steel stem, which my trailer came from the factory with.

My tires will run in the mid to upper 120's. It depends on starting out temp and the high for the day. I've seen them go as high as the low 130's on hot days that started out cold. Next morning, they were all high (Michigan vs Georgia), so I let a few PSI out.

The "sun side" tires will run hotter and higher pressure than the "shade side"

I had a Foretravel motor coach and in a conversation with some very experienced full timers on tire monitoring systems I took away an understanding that the repeater boosts the signal for your system in an attempt to reduce interference per say from other systems used as an example on a semi you maybe passing or riding next to. Many different tire monitoring systems out there on the road & I would recommend using the repeater to hopefully get the most accurate current reading or signal from your sensors.

TST gives you an audible alert AND screen.

A screen is very helpful because you know which tire is changing BEFORE the alarm sounds. A system without a screen is useless to me. In my case, I was actually explaining to my wife how the monitor works when one tire lost one PSI. I told her that's not good, let's watch. In another mile it lost another PSI.

We consulted The Next Exit Book and found a truck stop 8 miles away. Screw in the tire.

The question on metal valve stems earlier by Brisam. All of my Montana’s have come with metal valve stems. Check to see if yours aren’t metal first.

Picked up my trailer from warranty work - did hook up and safety check. Almost made it out of the gate when the monitor started screaming. Drivers front tire had 74 lbs. Might have ruined the evening ...

I use the suction mount and locate it on the far left side of windshield - very out of the way. Enjoy this better the center windshield clutter.
