Michelins

I have the wranglers on my 2020 and they are just OK. Wear is suboptimal, and at 12k miles they are 75% worn. They are also mushy if that makes sense. Not a crisp steering response. We ran Michelin Defender M&S on our last 3500 and got about 40,000 miles out of them. They are also much better in snow. The duratracs are terrible on snow. As soon as they are worn, on go the Michelin’s.

I too would like to go from LT275/65/20 to LT295/65/20 on my 2017 F350 FX4 (srw), but I am afraid I might be getting to wide for the stock rim. Do you think I might be getting some "tire roll" or sloppiness in the handling while towing? I'm currently running the stock Michelins that came with the truck and have been happy with them, but they just aren't aggressive looking enough. Now that it is time to replace them... I was considering the LT295/65/20 BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2. Any comments or suggestions?

Tough to beat the Michelins for all round performance on and off road. The BFGs tend to be fairly noisy.

I have the KO2s on my F350 DRW and hate them. They have been nothing but annoying since I installed them, and after 28K miles they are almost ready for replacement, which I think cannot come soon enough. Lots of cupping issues, horrible road noise...I got 96K miles out of my OEM tires (which were not Michelins, they were the Rugged Trail T/As). I have loved every set of Michelins that I ever owned, and will likely be moving to them soon.

Which Michelins were you happy with?

I have a 2013 F350 CC LWB 6.7. I run the 20 inch Michelins LTX A/T 2's. Got 66,000 miles from the last set. I was asked by a co-worker what tires was I gonna replace them with. I repeated, I got 66,000 miles from the last set. Yeah, they're pricey but worth every penny. My honest opinion, being in the business for 37 years, is you get what you pay for.

The quietest AT tire I've ever used is the Firestone Destination AT. They are a soft compound and balance easily. Great traction on an off road. I used them for many years on my last two trucks. Unfortunately they do not make them in the OEM size for the truck we have now.

I don't even consider the stock Michelins a true AT tire. They are useless for anything off pavement. I got the same 35k towing miles from them as most any other true AT tire I've used. I don't like the looks of them either.

I'm liking the General Grabbers A/Tx we have now. Have around 15k towing miles on them and they are wearing well. They are slightly louder than the Firestone Destination but much quieter than the Goodrich AT's. As with any true AT tire, frequent rotation is key to keeping them quiet with even tread wear.

As a full timer towing the Montana and with the F350DRW as my only vehicle, I cannot remember the last time I wasn't on pavement. Maybe crossing a gulf sand dune in Texas (where 4WD is more important), maybe pulling into a rustic camping site in Lexington, KY (there could be some mud...again 4WD). And, the RV stays in warm weather, so snow rarely touches the tires. So, for me, not having a "true AT tire" probably is not going to matter. I am leaning towards Michelins for my next batch.

Do yall think I might be getting some "tire roll" or sloppiness in the handling while towing going from a LT275/65/20 to a LT295/65/20 if I stayed with the Michelins ?

I have Bridgestone Dueller HT's on the truck. When I bought it had TKO's but the guy I bought it from was a rancher and drove on a lot of gravel/country roads so they made sense. They were very noisy on the highway though. The HT's are far quieter and they seem to be doing very well on mileage. So far I have 30K on them with hardly any wear. They do have a 70K warranty.

I have the Nitto Ridge grapplers on my 2019 GMC 1 ton 275/75/18. The trip i just went on last weekend and there were no bad habits, better than the KO2's I have had in the past that had roll and wore out really fast

I am not sure what you are referring to. Your Post about your 2018 Montana had been marked Sold last month. There is nothing in this Thread related to being sold. Color me confused.

I like my stock General Tire Radial Grabber all season HTS LT245/75R-17 E with 65,000 mile warranty, 80 psi max inflation pressure, 3750 lb load rating and smooth ride. The BFG K02 and General Grabber X3 are mud-terrain tires likely resulting in a rougher ride and have a lower mileage warranty. The General Grabber X3 has lower tire psi and load rating.

I agree Michelin's are great choice.
