Florida State Parks
What experience does anyone have with booking state parks? I was on reserveamerica and notice everything is booked up. Florida state parks says you can book 11 months out. January 2022 in the keys is all booked. I would appreciate any advice on booking 14 days at a time. Thanks

Sites are booked within seconds of the limit opening.

If you can be flexible with your plans people do cancel. I booked out three state parks in the keys and augmented the time between using private parks. I had to cancel all the reservations within 7 weeks of the first reservation. It happens a lot and someone in the right place at the right time can and will take advantage of it. Don't give up it can be done for sure.

There is a site that helps make getting booked for cancellations easier called Wandering Labs. https://reserve.wanderinglabs.com/. I haven't used it but it seems like an interesting idea. Florida parks are hard to get into under normal circumstances, but with Covid, it seems even worse now. I live in Florida and seldom camp in Florida due to availability.

It's been more difficult since last year. I think more people have been reserving sites without knowing if they're going to use them (it's always been that way in the Keys).

If you boondock there are a lot of options. Boondocking can also be used to fill in the gaps between park stays. Plenty of boondocking in Florida.
