Goodyear to sailun size question

We have a 2017 3721 rl. Came with Goodyear G614 RST lt 235/85r16. What size do I need in Sailun?

I think this is it. I just had to buy one on line from Amazon. Mine though was for a 15" rim.

Just curious if your tires are already worn out? The G614 is a great tire. We have had both and both are great tires on a Montana.

Thanks for all the responses. I have ordered that same size in the sailun. I finally found a truck and frame shop in this area that works on 5th wheels to check the alignment and can bend the axels if needed. I had really bad tread wear on the inside of at least one tire. Only got 15k miles. So I want to get the problem corrected. Frame shop wanted me to put the new tires on before I took it to them.

Remember to keep the old tire and note the direction of travel to help them diagnose the problem. Hope you get it figured out cheaply!

Funny thing, as the Fed Ex driver was delivering my one Sailun, we looked at his truck and sure enough running Sailuns.

Goodyear vs Sailun

We have had our G614s for about 4 yrs. We have had no problems and though we don’t put many miles on them we are thinking of replacing with Sailuns. There is no evidence of dry rot.
Are we premature in our wanting to change them now? We are planning one trip to Colorado in June and Nebraska in July plus some locals.

I believe the recommended Max life is 5 years.
We keep our rigs in good condition but after a 3 blowouts and some significant damage (expensive as h***) on our Mobile Suites, we do not run tires over 4 years old on the manufacturer’s date stamp.

I replace at 3-4 years. The Sailuns are dirt cheap - you could afford to replace them every year.

Sailun

Load Range G is important. The spice you have listed is availability.

The G614 warranty is limited to 4 years (ask me hw I know). I would replace them now with Sailuns.

Mine came with Sailun S637 G rated tires so I was extremely pleased!! I have not spoken to one person that has anything but good things to say about them. I'll let you know in about 20 thousand miles how I really feel about them!!!!

In the tire world you will be "plus sizing" your tires when you go from the GY G614 to the Sailun. Even though the GY has a RST rating and only used on trailer axles it's still a LT and it's load inflation chart is much different from the ST tire. The ST will only need 95 PSI to provide a load capacity equal to the G614's maximum load at 110 PSI.

There are procedures to follow when "plus sizing" your tires. Most important is the documentation of a new recommended cold inflation pressure provided by an informed tire installer.

NOTE: official tire designated sizes include the prefix.

LT235/85R16 is a full designated size for that LT designated size
ST235/85R16 is a full designated size for that ST designated size

Because your vehicle certification label has a ST235/80R16 as OE, your minimum load capacity for any designated size replacement is 3420#.

Just had a new set of the Sailuns size 235/85 16 installed on Monty!
Great deal from Simple Tire, installed at America's Tire.

Couple of issues with America's Tire though...I had to ask them twice to wire brush the mating surfaces and wheel studs. This should be standard practice IMO. No big deal, just some minor surface rust and road crud.

The tech doing the install wasn't clear on the torque requirements for this trailer; when I asked him what he planned, he kinda "guessed" about 100 lbs.!
Uh, no not quite...

More importantly...I was informed that they do NOT have the capability to air up the tires to 100 psi as I requested! Their "trick" air pressure equipment only goes to 90 psi!

I assume they have some rationale for this limitation, but it seems like a management fail to me. Not like these are some unusual tires or something...

On a side note, these Sailuns are extremely stout (and heavy) tires. The GY614s served me well, but at almost 5 1/2 years old they were about due to be replaced and I couldn't pass up the great price on the Sailuns.

Sounds like a great idea...they were on sale at SimpleTire a few days ago for $144 each!
