RVing POST COVID 19

This is how I see RVing for the near future.

1. Campgrounds will be considered at full capacity with only half the sites being used. Only every other site can be used. This will potentially make getting reservations a bit more difficult.
2. Only one or two people allowed in the the office/camp store at a time. A mask must be worn.
3. Bathhouse closed.
4. Laundry room closed.
5. Bathrooms closed.
6. Pool closed.
7. Miniature golf by reservation only.
8. No RV park planned activities. Examples; no bingo, no arts and crafts, no club house, no indoor or outdoor movies, no pancake breakfasts, etc. I see this as a huge problem for snowbirds.
9. No amenities at the sites. Examples; on picnic table, no grill, no furniture, etc.

Everybody RV’s in different ways and for different reasons. The same can be said for how we choose an RV park. Personally, I don’t require the full on resort experience. FHU, 50 amp, pullthru is all I require. Anything else is of no concern to me. The RV park is not my destination, it’s just the staging point for adventure. If the near future of RVing is as listed above, I see no impact on my style of RVing.

Just one “at risk” man’s opinion.

I will go a little further.

No need for a RV park, a free spot on FS or BLM land will work.

Find a sunny spot to keep the batteries charged, with a few gallon of gas for the cloudy day to run the genny.

A full pantry and reefer, you are good to go for some time.

Luckily we have two RV home bases, but until our income is back to normal, we won't be going anywhere else.

I disagree. When things open up, it will be about as insane as it can get by insane people who all of a sudden think they are the exceptions to everything. I'm continuing to avoid campgrounds, probably this entire year, and just setting it out, especially since we can do camp driveway with more solitude than any public campground anywhere. I'll avoid everything for a while, not because of the threat of a second wave of virus, but because of all the idiots, crazies, and nut cases who are simply horrible human beings.

We actually have reservations in Gulf Shores starting 5/3
The campground is 100% capacity, beaches open Friday, pool opens Monday.
I don’t see much is going to be different at private parks.
Of course this is the “experiment phase” of reopening.

We will not know till we know guessing will do little We cancelled any summer activities we were thinking of. Will use the time to do work around the S&B and the RV. There are local places we can go without the RV if they are open.

I think you are spot on. When you let the rats out of the cage they will all go crazy.

Rich, that sounds like our summer this year too. I am catching up on years of small projects, and like you enjoy our local areas more. Have a good summer.

I hope plenty of folks take the same opinion of RVing this summer. I hate competing for spots and crowded campsites reduce the ability for spontaneity. If camping turns out to be as casual as it has been the past two months, it would be great.

I'm with the OP in that the campsite isn't the destination.

Just read that PA lifted their ban and one Campground received 155 reservation in 3 hours.

I hope to be among those idiot, crazy nut cases. Those who wish to do so, can hunker down and stay in their driveway. The rest of us horrible people are getting back to living.

That sounds like a friend. He said this was just another flu and wasn’t a pandemic until he talked with his son. His son is a doctor and he hasn’t been out of the house since.

Have a long time friend who is a nurse. Her sister is in a nursing home that was hit with covid. Her sister got it bad enough. One night when she said good bye she thought is was the last time. Her sister did finally recover. One thing she credits with the recovery was not letting them take her to a hospital where she would have been put on a ventilator. She thought her sister would not survive on one. One of the aides at the home that her sister liked was not so lucky

mlh - Perhaps his son gave him good advice that doesn't pertain to the other 275,000,000 people across the US. This is absolutely not a one size fits all situation and neither is the solution.

The real question is when can we say we are Post Covid 19? May be quite awhile. Opening things up and Post Covid are not necessarily the same.

We just cancelled our first trip even though AZ is slowly opening up.
