Endless Caverns Resort / New Market VA

Looking for input - going to be here late October for five nights.

I know there are some knowledgeable VA folks here, what should we not miss?

In October don’t miss the Blueridge Parkway. That isn’t leaf season but still a great time to visit one of the prettiest roads in the country. From Newmarket go south and there is a campground just south of Roanoke. Stop at the Peaks of Otter. Check the Parkway out on the NPS web site or their App.

What's your estimate of leaf season this year? Thanks for feed back.

We're coming in from Harrisburg and leaving to Clemmons NC.

From Blueridgeparkway.org:
"When will the leaves be at their peak Fall color on the Blue Ridge Parkway? During the month of October, usually mid to late month, but it depends on your elevation. Leaves will begin changing first on the highest peaks and conclude in the lower elevations. There is no simple formula for predicting Fall color."

Peak leaf season used to be late October. I remember because that is when we were married 54 years ago. Now it seems to be a week or two later and like the above post that depends on elevation. I always watch fall creep down the mountain from my home. The Parkway is too pretty to miss. From here in the Roanoke Valley it just gets prettier as you go south. There are nice campgrounds about every hundred miles. Some of the sites are short but you can find one to fit your camper. I usually stick the back of my camper over the back end of the site. The sites for the most part are very private without any hookups.
