Yeh I think I did.

Are you saying that the super light hitch (think it starts with an A) is causing a problem for some besides crush collapsing? Can't be. They are garandamteed not.

Yeh I think I did.
I just mentioned the tractor because it makes the job easier. Even an aluminum frame hitch is a bit clumbersome due to size

I don’t have a problem with any other brand except the Reese pro.

My experience with the Curt/Mopar is that it hitched very solid with wrap around jaws and the control handle has indicators. You don’t have to move back and forth to latch or release it either. No crushed beds for us. At least not due to the hitch. Now that tree that hid till it jumped in the way........

Did you read the entire post that you are referring to about the crushed hitch. Pay particular attention the engineer that pretty much summed up the likely problem. Yep the thing broke, so what, call your wonder hitch company and ask " had any failures" this is nothing compared to the thread on another forum, and as a few just trying to justify why they spent so much money and put up with the hassles ,pounding, chucking, bucking, oil, grease, mess, weight, maintenance, defending, contraptions to remove, on and on and on. Sorry dose not compute. The wave of the future but we all know for some just refuse to let it go.

This is what I`m talking about this what your wonder hitch can do. Do a google search you`ll find more crushed truck beds from your wonder hitch's than you`ll care to read. Oh that`s right a couple of the Andersen hitches broke so that makes several and a complete failure as a design that`s been proven to be the strongest in engineering in history. I`d have an ancient Egyptian pyramid architect comment on this but you know.......

I called Lippert and the only gooseneck type hitch they endorse the Reese Goose Box- . i specifically was asking about the anderson Ultimate Hitch. They said they do not endorse any other goose neck hitch adaptors.

That looks like a Reese type of sliding hitch in the picture. I have an old one in my yard and it has a sliding bar to hold the pin. I wonder how the pin in the picture got loose?

That's just what I was thinking. I had one of those the Reese "pro series" sliders. The way the bar slid across the pin you could easily drop the king pin on top of it and consequently drop the trailer if you didn't check it beforehand. Also had the bar not go all the way across a couple times on mine and the king pin could push the bar back and potentially slip off. No matter what you only had the King pin captured on the front and rear lip and not completely surrounded (IE: front, rear and sides). Just a cheap design that had plenty of potential for failure!

What I see in the above picture is a hitch that has the release handle in the open position. Looks like someone either forgot to lower their landing gear when unhooking or didn't make sure the handle snapped back to the locked position before they moved forward. Always, Always do a visual on your hitch and landing gear before proceeding.

Totally agree with above!!!!

And it is kinda what I was saying about the Reese "pro series". They have a reputation for not latching properly. I know about it first hand but I was lucky and it didn't completely fall off!

There are a lot of Pro Series out there as dealers push them. The main reason is they are cheap. I had one, came with my 1st 5er. Although I never had a problem I caught a high hitch once. Happy I replaced it with a B&W Patriot slider. The Pro Series bar works if hitched correctly but noisy and a sloppy hold on the pin.

We now use the Trailersaver BD3 hitch. It depends on what you want to spend and IMO how much you use the RV.We had the Reese 16k hitch and it worked just fine. We now have the BD3 and it works even better.

I’m thinking about upgrading my hitch to a B&W Companion for the Ford factory hitch prep system. What height setting on the B&W is best for the new higher Ford bed rails with a new Montana hitch pin?

We went with Anderson Ultimate. Not unhappy with the purchase, but knowing what I know now, I’d likely to the B&W.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I bite the bullet and switch in the future.

I just spent almost two hours wrestling our new Pullrite SuperGlide removing it from my bed. I have the under bed mounting system. Just glad my tractor has a front end loader to assist. It should’ve been against the law the get rid of a B&W Companion. When I win the lottery, I’m swapping back. ����
