Water Heater Switch

Any body had a problem with Suburban hot water heater SW10DE switch getting locked in the on or off position. Mine is locked in the on position and is not allowing current to the element.
How do you access the switch to install a new one?
This switch is located outside lower left side of heater.

take a small screw driver and pop it out. It is just held in with plastic clips, shut your 110v power before you stick a screwdriver in there.

The switch has probably carroded and over heated, causing it to stick. I had that happen on an SOB I owned once. If the switch is black plastic surrounded by black plastic frame, it just pushlocks into surrounding metal. Try using something like a tiny screw driver or ice pick to slip between metal and plastic at ends of switch. Make sure power is off before attempting.
also go to a good supply store and buy a quality switch. Make sure to cut off or clean wire connections as any remaining corrosion will cause resistance and same problem again.

I had one locked a few years ago. I shot a little WD40 on the switch and never had a problem with it again. It was off and would not switch on.
Worth a try.
