truck wing
I am considering getting one of the stainless wings in hopes of increasing fuel milage and of course keeping some of the bugs off my rig. Have any of you tried one of these? If so, let me know your results.
Thanks,
Don

With the aerodynamic shape of the front of the Monty, you'll probably decrease your gas mileage. There has been at least one lengthy discussion of the benefits of the wing, and of louvered tail gates, and the consensus was that they don't accomplish much, except making it easy to hook up without lowering the tail gate.

I was told the wing should be as close as 2 to 3 feet to the RV to get the proper results of the wing, I dont think you would see any inprovements in fuel milage, especally what they advertise.

Most of the turbulence occurs in the bed of the truck. Put some balled up newspapers back there next time you tow somewhere and see what happens. Wing does nothing for that.

Your 2010's nose is shaped like a bullet. I quickly noticed with mine that I got the same fuel mileage pulling a 38 foot Montana weighing 5000 lbs. more than my old camper as I did pulling the old one. Hard to imagine improving the aero performance of the Monty's front cap with a wing. I don't believe it would help much with bugs either. Just my opinion.

Save your dinero ... I had a used one when I ran a big block gasser ... at a consistent 6-7 mpg one tends to try anything. It kept SOME of the bugs off the front of the fiver and made awesome water swirls up in the air when traveling in the rain ... sadly it made absolutely no difference in fuel mileage. Even if it did make the fuel mileage improvement claims of the manufacturers, your truck would be worn out before the wing paid for itself. Another issue ... depending on your truck height, you may find you can no longer pull into the garage without folding it down.

We have an air deflecter on our truck- No increase in fuel economy- It does keep the front cap free of bugs except on the edges- I will not acquire another but will continue to use the one we have- JMHO- Don

Well at least it's doing something Don, less work on cleaning the cap.
