Central vacuum option

While on our factory tour yesterday Helen asked the tour person what that black thing was down there..he said that's the central vacuum. I had somehow neglected to tell Helen that such a option exsisted..I got that "how could you not tell me look" I mentioned that we have three vacuum cleaners now..why do we need another..I never know when to keep my mouth shut..Anyhow Helen's question is,,to those who have one...does it do the job..is it worth it..and she is looking so I will have to give her the replies.

I'm not sure, but I think it was included in one of our option packages? It was in our 2955RL when we bought it.
It seems to work OK. Have only had it since 2/05. We are not full timers. I think the hose provided is a bit short to reach the whole coach. Residue bag is not overly big (not a real problem so far). Seems to be a usable feature, and we supplement it with a small Dirt Devil in the bedroom area. I'm sure if you post in another area, many full timers will have more profound observations.

I have one in my trailer and I love it. We have the 3400 and the hose reaches all over the trailer. No short hose here. I love it because I don't have to take the house vacuum and find a place to store it. So I say give the lady a treat and get it........You won't even notice the difference in the price.....Kathi

I have it in my coach and love it. Works pretty good if you stay up on the vacuming every week. I do not have the upright in the coach, just the central vac. When I bring the coach home for storage I use the upright just to double check to make sure I have every crumb picked up so they do not attract mice over the winter. Would I ordered it again in my next coach? You bet!

Our dealer put a Dirt Devil in at his shop. It works great and hose even reaches outside to do the deck if I don't feel like sweeping.

They said the the hose was long enough to reach the entire unit (3670) and even enough to reach outside to clean the car or truck. The actual reason I never mentioned it was that it looked sort of mickey mouse and figured it did not have the power to do any good..Howver if it does the job it will be a good option. Does run on 120 or 12V or both..

Its 120v. You can do better on price for the same unit that Montana puts in at CW. We have one in our unit but we use the small Eureka upright. To me it does a better job and I don't have to stuff the hose back into the bag everytime I use it. I do use the central vac to clean the filter for the Eureka and it is great for that.

We have it also and use it all the time. It gets into every corner and the carpet looks like it had a vacuumming. We also use it for dusting. Just watch the bag and be sure to change it before it gets too full.

We have it in our 3670. Works ok. You will end up getting a little yellow Eureka though to do the rugs.

We have it in our 3685 and it will reach all four corners of the trailer. We feel it does an OK job for cleaning up before we put the slides in when getting ready to return home.

Like others have said, we have it, it works, and will reach anywhere in our 3670. The hose looks short but is very stretchy. It is an expensive option, but the same unit at our local Home Hardware store is CDN$500, HH also carry the bags, which is handy if you don't have a CW near you. (Home Hardware is a Canadian chain, not to be confused with Home Depot).

One thing we came to realize is that if you already have a central vac hose with a powerhead and beater bar at home, you can simply plug it into the wall outlet and use it in the trailer.

If you only consider $, you would be better off carrying a conventional vacuum with you, but the wall mounted unit is very convenient and space conserving, albeit at a significant $ cost.

Have it and love it. Was one of the first options along with the fireplace that I would not be without.

We have the central vac in our 3380RL and would not be without it. Hose is plenty long enough to reach all areas of the trailer. We also travel with a dog and the vac does a good job of picking up the hair.

We have it, we love it, it reaches all corners, don't stuff it back in bag because we have a plastic tub it all goes in and is very easy. There is not a lot of places to store an upright vacuum so I think it is great. Plus there are all the attachments you need. So Rich - let her have it.
Happy trails........................

Helen wants to test it out to see if it has enough suction power..In other words..does it suck....or... does it suck...

I have it and love it. The hose reaches all of my 3670, and gets cat fur off the furniture and window ledges. The suction seems to be strong enough, and can be reduced by sliding the cover open on the handle to allow for cleaning lightweight things like bathroom rugs, to avoid sucking them up!

I like the idea of storing the hose in a tub rather than the net bag - I'll try that. Thanks, Parrothead!
