Air Conditioning on 3582RL

We have a Montana 3582RL and on our last 2 outings the temperature was around 100 degrees. We set the Temp in the rear living area to 68 degrees and the temp stays that temp until it warms up. In the afternoon the temp was set at 68 but the inside was reading 82 degrees. I set the fan at Hi but it does not seem to put much air out the vents. The bedroom does great, you can really feel the cold air. Does anybody have this problem or is this normal and I am stuck with not getting the rear area cool.

If your A/C's are like ours, the bedroom isn't ducted and blows from the unit only. The living room A/C has the task of cooling the whole camper through air ducts. On a 100 degree day, that can be a lot of work for the air conditioner to keep up with. I'm assuming it is running constantly and cool air is flowing through the vents. I don't know about yours, but mine can only be dampened at the unit itself. The other vents are non-adjustable. If you're not feeling air coming from your down-line vents, try closing the vents at the unit a little to see if that helps. Otherwise, since your Montana is new, there could be a blockage of some sort.

A 2014 surely has two ducted units. Your issue is simply heat overload. As in 100 degrees is too much heat to cool the large area in the rear of the camper. There are a few simple things you can do to help. Go to your dealer, rv parts supplier, or online and buy three or four dampered duct vents. Replace the ones in your bedroom and bath so you can close them some to get more air push in the rear of the camper. Also remove your air return vents for the furnace and cover the backside with a piece of thick cardboard with insulation taped to the back of it. This will prevent your cold air from spilling down into the basement. Cover your furnace vents with magnetic vent covers available at Home Depot or Lowes. With this configuration I can camp in 100 degree weather and keep the camper at 73 degrees throughout as long as the stove isn't used during the hot part of the day.

As mentioned, that's a lot of heat. However, two units should hold the temp, unless you are trying to cool off an already hot trailer. One thing to check, is the "dump grill" in the bedroom unit closed? By dump grill, I mean the one that you can slide open on the cover and literally dump all the air right into the room? If it is, the air will take the path of least resistance instead of going into the ductwork. I checked our 3725 system, and with that dump closed, I could feel air movement at all the vents all the way to the other end of the trailer. Granted, it got less and less the further away from the unit. With both AC units running, there was plenty of air from all grills

That said, in our previous 3400, they found that one of the ducts had not been fully hooked up. Just dumped air into the ceiling void.
