2013 model 3582rl

I am looking at new 2013 Montana 3582RLs on the internet. I see a huge variance on the prices. Has anybody purchased this RV in the last yr? If so, would you PM me with some specifics about the price please. I realize the dealer must make a profit thus I simply want a fair purchase price. Someone recently posted about 59% of the MSRP was reasonable yet the prices on the internet are much higher. Thanks

I will tell you we had a 2001 RL2955 and traded it in on a 2013 3582. It has all the bells and whistles but not the Big Sky. We did get the Hyd. Levelers. Dual pane windows, Leather, King bed, etc. We traded and had to come up with around 40k. It listed in the high 80's. So you do need to shop around. If you don't mind traveling to get your unit. Get ahold of Scott @ Pete's RV in Schererville Indiana. See what he has and if they will work up a deal for you. Good luck

Who knows what they REALLY get off a new rig as the dealer is the one that lists the MSRP. I find 59% really hard to believe unless the dealer really set the bar high! In my opinion based on the purchase of our 2 different Montanas, 30-35% is more realistic.

Don't make your purchase on price alone.

Like cars, you have to watch the trade-in offer as well as the asking price as you negotiate. I have always been able to negotiate 30-35% off the dealer price, before I indicate I have a unit I want to trade in. If I don't get what I think is a fair wholesale offer for the trade-in unit, no deal.

We shopped the internet and looked at shows and the prices varied. I do not beleive that someone is actually/truthfully selling something at 59% off. After all our looking we purchased a 2012 3582 at Leisure Time in OKC. Talk to Kurt about a deal. I feel they treated us very fair and did not play the discount games.

I may have unintentionally misled everyone, the article I read indicated 41% off of MSRP which is the same as paying 59% of MSRP. Sorry for the confusion.

I think someone is playing games with the "discount" to make it look better than it is. I do not know what the margin is that a dealer is actually working with however that seems way higher than any other reseller business that I have seen. We have a sales person at camping world that is a MOC member so he should be able to give better comments than me on this topic.

I've always thought that the RV business is like the jewelry business - over 100% markup. Otherwise how could a 40% discount allow them to pay sales people, other employees and base overhead and still make a profit?

I once bought a $130,300 MH for $76,000. I received an employee discount and picked it up at the factory

That is what I am talking about. As an example, cost = $50K and a 100% mark up for list is $100K. If they discount it at 40 % that means a sell of $60K for a $10K profit. Normally accesories carry a higher mark up and could contribute to more margin.

We bought a 2013 3582RL a few months ago from Lazy Days in Florida, near Tampa. We traded in our 2012 Sprinter trailer. The list on the Montana was $69,000, they gave it to us for $49,000 and our Sprinter. We love the 3582 layout. Lazy Days now as a 2014 listed. You can check out their website. There is also a Lazy Days in Arizona.
