My '13 did the same thing as the OP and kept throwing code after code and "Drive to Clean". After several trips to the dealer over 8 weeks, the turbo vanes were discovered to have been stuck which allowed too much soot into the EGR cooler, cooler core and the DPF. I was in regen every 80 miles unloaded. A new turbo, cooler and core and all was well.

On my F350 2015 the DPF filled up the first week I arrived at Key West since I was only driving 1-5 miles. The key is to run it at least weekly on the road for at least a half hour or so. The Forscan % seems to help me understand when it will go into regen status.

As for DEF fluid after you fill it up throw the remaining amount out...don't keep it, get fresh DEF the next time.
I just off the phone with Peak blue DEF people, was told if you keep the partial jug closed and out of sun it will stay good 18-24 months! ✌🏻️

You can actually change your program with the forscan program so that your truck will show the percentage that your filter is at. It should do a renen at 85% plus. There are many other things you can change in your programing to make your truck more user friendly.
