Power converter

2010 Montana 3400RL. Having trouble with my converter. I did all the research so I now how to check it, or replace it. I just can’t find it. Anybody out there know where they hid it on this model. I can tell you it’s not under the fuse box, and it’s not in the space between the hot water heater and the vacuum. "HELP”

I believe it is BEHIND the fuse.CB/panel in the bathroom. Remove the panel and you should see it.

Took off the panel, all I could see was wires. Shouldn’t the converter at least be 6”/8”

Yup the converter is roughly about 6" x 6" x 2" if it is a separate from the fuse/CB panel. That is where they hid it in earlier models. As the 2010 was the first year for the dropped frame, perhaps it was moved. The other common location is near/under the stairs. You have to remove the rear wall of the pass through compartment to see it. Removal is easy, just 4 or 6 screws.

On our 2010 it was under the stairs.

On the 2010 did it plug into the back of the fuse panel?

Found it under the bottom step. I’ll get to it this afternoon. Here’s what I’ve done so far. New 29 series deep cycle battery. Charged on the bench to 11.7v. Reinstalled and turned on the cutoff switch. Plugged into shore power. 24 hrs. Later, battery is down to 10.7v. In my mind the converter for whatever reason is not working. If the fuses aren’t blown, I’ll order a new one. Doesn’t look like a big deal to swap it out. Thanks for all your help. I’ll post when I get it solved.

The 11.7 volt is not representative of a full charge of your battery, actually it is the voltage of a completely discharged battery. It should be more than 12.5 when fully charged, suggest you fully charge the battery, reinstall, then check voltage before and after plugging in to shore power. If your charger is working, you will see an after voltage of about 13.5 which will indicate that your charger is working properly. Even though your battery is new, it could possibly be defective. Got the battery to 12.59. Reinstalled and still read 12.59 with every thing on. Checked converter and all three fuses were toast. I’ve enclosed a pic. I’ve never seen fuses burned this bad. Going to NAPA to get new fuses. (30 amp is the only ones I don’t have) I’m a little Leary about firing it up with new fuses for the way these melted. Something I should add is the last time I used it the slides wouldn’t come in. Tried a jump and a booster battery to no avail. Manually brought them in. Dropped at my dealer and they diagnosed a bad hydraulic pump. They put on a new one and the slides work great. But I’m wondering if that’s when the fuses go. That was before the new battery. Thanks Sorry I couldn’t figure out how to load the pictures of the fuses, but trust me all three were almost melted.

Sounds like you may have fried the fuses when you tried the booster. If it were just the motor, the fuse would blow but more than likely wouldn't fry. You should be fine to power up after you install the new fuses. Don't forget to check the voltage after you replace the fuses to make certain that your charging system is working. Should be 13.5 or more. Good Luck.

Success. Replaced the three fuses. Fired it bank up and everything worked right. 13.5v at the battery. The only problem I encountered was that I threw my shoulder out patting us all on the back. Thanks to everyone that helped. This forum has saved me enough over the years that I could probably buy a brand new unit. But darn, I sure love the one I’m in. Thanks Rick
