Zerk Fittings on front Landing Jacks
Our 2010 3400RL has Zerk fittings near the top of the front landing gear.
Has anyone come across an official recommendation from Keystone, Lippert or whoever as to how much grease and how often?

I never heard of zerk fittings on the landing gear but it sounds like a great idea.
I have been told by my dealer that I should clean and lube the landing gear once each year.

Grant,
Where "near the top" is the zerk located? Is it accessible from the outside or must you open the front basement? I'm trying to picture where it might be located.
Where are you folks?

I have those zerk fittings also on our 2010 3150RL. They are about 4" down from the top cap on the front side of the legs.
I have shot about 3 squirts of grease in them to see what would happen. I don't know how much to put in there. Haven't run across any info on the subject.
John Kohl mentioned that the subject came up at the fall rally with the Keystone reps. I guess they are new to the newer 2010s.

Our rig, built in Mar 2009, does not have the zerk fittings. I checked out the Venture website the other day but did not see any recommendations on lubing the landing gear or even a mention of the zerks.

OK we need some pictures from you all that have them. if they are 4" down that means they are lubing the trust berring or in that area. it could be a simple do drill and a 1/8th pipe tap. Im going to look at the spare leg I have in the shop and just see where it will hit at 4".

Dennis,
They are reached through the propane tank door. As Jolu said "They are about 4" down from the top cap on the front side of the legs."
I think I am going to have to buy a grease gun with a flexible hose to reach them.
We arrived in Williamsburg, Virgina yesterday. Like all of the south it is hot and humid.

I don't want to hijack this posting from BirdingRVer. Perhaps he will chime in more on the topic.
Here is a photo of the Zerk fitting on the front of the jack leg. The photo is taken pointing the camera toward the rear of the trailer. The Zerk is 3 3/4" down from the top of the cap on the jack leg centered on the leg. My tape is taped to the top of the jack leg cover. I am holding my camera in the propane bay. I do not know what is in the jack leg where the Zerk fitting is located.

thanks Joe I'll drill mine 3-3/4" down from the top I'll keep all posted, I also want to check with Lippert and see what they say about adding a zerk nipple there on the earlier legs.

Okay, so maybe I am confused ( not the first time and certainly won't be the last)....I looked at the motor for the landing gear and it is made by Venture Mfg. Are the legs manufactured by Lippert? I was under the impression it was all one unit from Venture.

Grant,
Thanks for the info. Also try to stay dry I understand it has rained a lot back that direction. Hope the new rig is holding up well.
Enjoy and travel safely,
Dennis

Dennis,
Even though we have seen all of the rain on the Weather Channel we have missed most of it. We have been averaging about 1 thunder storm a week; just enough to keep the truck and the trailer nice and clean.
The new trailer is working out great! The only issue I have maybe "pilot error". I can only get the remote to turn the outside lights on and off. It won't work the landing legs or the rear stabilizers. I know it worked during the PDI because it was one of the things that we checked. I am not sure what I could be doing wrong or why it's not working but, I haven't put much effort into researching the problem either.

The remote will work the outside lights any time but to activate the landing legs, rear stabilizers or slides you have to turn the remote on via the switch inside the access door on the side of the trailer as well as selecting the function you want to activate. The remote switch is also set to a timer and after a period of time it will turn itself off.

Jack,
You are correct, the landing gear, legs and all, is made by Venture. Lippert just installs it on the frames

OK here is the scoop on the zerk fitting on the front legs of the newer montys.
Per Lippert aka Venture on the side line.
The newer legs are constructed differently and putting a zerk fitting in that location will not work for the early style legs, they must be lubricated the old fashoned way through the top. the new legs are desined differantly and the greese fitting lubes the thrust berring area. while I takled to them I asked them if they had a Adobe file in a exploded view and his reply was no, from Lippert or Venture. so I guess I'll forget about doing any drilling or modifications to my front legs.

Hi Jack the way we were instructed to lube the legs is all hands on, pop the cap off the leg (my method) oil pump and s few squirts down the center post under the (gear). and pump some greese into the gear area put the cap back on and go back to work.
