Paying foreword Lonnie's good deed..
We are here in Red Rock Park in Gallup N.M., nice place on the Navajo Reservation, right next to a big beautiful rock formation now.
I looked out the window and saw a guy trying to start his truck with one of those small battery boosters. No joy.
So, I thought "What would Lonnie do?" Yep, I scurried over and helped him.
He said he just had a new alternator installed because he has had this trouble since he bought the truck. 3 times it wouldn't start, I looked the wiring over and his battery post's were loose, the wires were corroded to the connections, so I stripped back the wiring, got good wire and tightened everything up. I checked his battery voltage-good, but a little low, as well as his specific gravity in the battery. My guess is that the old alternator was fine, just bad connections. I was talking to him and he had all kinds of problems in the RV he just bought. Long story short, I pulled the furnace, as it had no service access from the outside, worked on that, cleaned the igniter in the water heater, fixed the converter, he was told one of his batteries was bad in the trailer, I checked the specific gravity in the cells, they were all OK and the batteries were up. Also showed him where the landing legs fuse is.
He and his wife are math teachers on an Indian reservation 7,000' up somewhere, they had 2 cute little girls.
Nice folks.
