Axle springs

I just had a uncomfortable experience with my 2021 40 ft Montana
I realized that the trailer was not tracking straight and when I pulled off I found that the rear axle was at an angle
After inspection it was determined that the pin that holds the leafs together was gone as well as the two lower leafs
This was allowing the axle to slide back on the spring
Fortunately I noticed early enough that no serious damage occurred
Wondering if anyone else has had a similar failure
Trying to decide if it was a product failure or is there a design issue that might cause this

I had a broken spring at the right rear eye (bad roads) recently and had to replace it. The leaves did not separate. There is a bolt that holds them together in the center. This bolt nut also fits into an eye on the axle that keeps it centered and aligned.
I'm guessing this bolt sheared if you lost leaves and the axle shifted.

Agree with Daryles ... just guessing, your spring ubolts might have been way loose, or you hit something pretty substantial and broke the pin holding the spring pack together. Like said that pin holds the pack together and indexes it onto a hole in the spring perch on the axle.

I second the loose U bolts. The axles and U bolts are installed at the factory while the RV is upside down. While the U bolts may have been tightened to spec, once the RV is righted, loads applied you find the torque is less than spec. As I recall, they should be torqued to 60 P.S.I. or so.
